You do realize that the entry point is irrelevant, right? And that my point was, the Gateway card is useless. If you want to pay for that shit, go for it.
  1. All my games are in physical form (Including OOT)
  2. Have a GW card to store them
  3. Have a N3DS to use my GW with
  4. ???????
  5. Profit.

Not so useless at my point of view ;)

Noooooooooooooooo! I'd better get off my arse and finish the game then, no way am I losing my save and starting it all over again.
You can back up your save file and keep it somewhere safe, while you use the gateway save.

Except that it supports O3DS 9.2 or lower, and no one was forced to buy a gateway card until the update for N3DS was actually released, they did not advertise "PRE- ORDER GATEWAY 3DS FOR N3DS".

Also, I know that you're ignoring the fact that they said that it's a temporary solution, and they're still working on the entry point that requires no hardware.

They had 2 options :

1)Not release anything until they find a better solution.
2)Release what they have.

Which is what they said in their post, they picked the 2nd option, because of all the hype.

P.S. You can keep calling me a fanboy or w/e, I don't mind.
It's not the card, it's the exploit. -snip-

How is the card useless, you still need the card right + the save dongle + zelda 3ds game?
The card was never necessary for the exploit, they make it necessary to ensure you purchased their product. It. Is. Useless. -snip-

Mate, the games are stored on a MicroSD, not the flash cart. -snip-

Whenever I press A in Ocarina of time, the menu doesn't load. The bottom screen turns white, and the top screen freezes, but nothing else ever happens.

Ocarina of Time 1.1 on an EUR N3DS :/

Maybe you should watch your language before you take a hike to Bansville? Of course they are stored on the SD card which goes into the GW card/console :gba:

Since the SD is within the gateway cart, the games are within the gateway cart. (in a literal sense.)
Totally know where you're coming from though.

It's not the card, it's the exploit. Get your shit right, please.

Mate, the games are stored on a MicroSD, not the flash cart. You people are idiots.

You know what, fuck this argument, you can keep spreading your bullshit and be a drama queen, I'll just enjoy what I have on the table.

Even if the costs for Gateway were 300$ overall, it would still be a much better card than Sky3DS, and that's a fact.

You sure that your OOT version is 1.1? Cause mine is a 1.1 (US version) and the game says that my save data is corrupted

So does Ocarina of time work for loading Gateway 3.1 on regular 3DS with version 9.2 (you don't have to buy gateway card right?)

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
