I have a 9.2 XL, 9.0 3DS, and 7.2 2DS (all US). I got my Gateway in tonight and am anxiously waiting for the update like everyone else.

The only thing I really care about playing right now is MH4G, and I'm not clear at all on the easiest way to accomplish this. I've tried googling around and I've read through all the sticky threads but I'm still at a bit of a loss.

Playing online would be a plus, but not necessary. I'm confused about the difference between a .3dz and .3ds, and I'm under the assumption that a .cia is more difficult to use. Operating off of the current 4.X Gateway, which of these can be used region free? I've seen conflicting info saying that only .cia is region free, or that all of them are region free.

So far the tutorials/guides I've found so far are:

* installing devmenu (https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutorial-installing-devmenu.375241/)
* conversion from .3ds to .cia (https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutorial-converting-3ds-to-cia-for-dummies.373722/)

I haven't found a good thread discussing emuNAND and sysNAND, and since that sounds like the riskiest part of using a Gateway I'd LOVE if someone could break it down.

well if you're playing japanese games, I highly recommend you get a translating app like

Cam dictionary for iOS or Android's Word Lens Translator

You just point your phone at your screen and it'll translate whatever's there, assuming the font isn't too crazy. They'll help you comprehend and enjoy japanese games so much more.

I could not back this idea more, I used this when I was playing with the settings on my JPN N3DS

Also another alternative is the Google Translate App
