I just got done using Modmii and I have HBC installed, with Ios56 and I tried following a tutorial that said:

1.) Follow step 3 in the guide above.
2.) Install DIOS MIOS using MMM.
3.) Launch CFG USB Loader.
4.) Click the icon with tools on it
5.) Set "DML Version" to DM.
6.) Launch your game!

So I installed DIOS MIOS but I don't see a "DML Version" anywhere in the settings. I also saw USB Loader GX but I downloaded it and it said I need ios58, and I have no idea how to update to that, and I don't want to brick anything. I would just like to run Gamecube backups right now.

have you read this guide? http://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-p...s-from-sd-or-usb-using-dios-mios-lite.318585/

btw, cfg irrc doesnt have a dml version changer, so dont worry about hunting it down. and the guide says you need cfg; you need the cfg mod version for DM. which is here http://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-p...s-from-sd-or-usb-using-dios-mios-lite.318585/ (its a modded .dol that you use to replace the original .dol with.)

I couldn't find the CFG Mod for DM on your link, but I tracked it down on google and it says to rename the .dol to boot.dol and put it in sd:/apps/usb-loader/boot.dol. I don't have a usb-loader folder in my apps? But its on my Wii main screen. Should I create one, or what? EDIT: Nevermind got it! It was in my HDD

If you're using the latest version of CFG USB Loader then you don't need to select DM - It'll use DM automatically as long as you have done everything else properly. If you get an "apploader size is zero!" error then try a different HDD - it took changing my HDD 3 times before it would work properly.
