Lol, I don't have either cards. My opinion is completely unbiased; I just think that the 3DS Link is going to be better than the Gateway.

You probably preordered the Crown 3DS before you bought the Gateway, now you can't bare to admit that you wasted more money now that an even more recent card has come out.

You asked to see it's PCB to see it's quality so I tought it might be helpful.

Here is the Gateway PCB:

And here is the R4i Gold Deluxe one:

R4i Gold Team was able to fit everything on a single side,
the cart is less volumous than gateway and doesn't need to have a hole on it's shell.
That's why I say it's better built than Gateway catridge.

gateway was never expected to be the only 3ds flashcard on the market.
personally I'm happy to see that there's a push for other companies to jump in the game, even if they're clone carts.
More carts translate to more interest in Pirating games on the 3DS. More people higher skills will join the fun.

a small team of developers like gateway can't do it alone. especially in a short time-frame people are expecting. Higher volume of coders working on this project will yield better results.

It's much to the same fact as any Cracking, Hacking, Emulating scene From Iphons & Androids, to software cracking.
Popularity in a project plays a major role. If one team looses interest, there will be others to pickup where they left off.

it's funny that some people just can't see that this is a clone of gateway.

If they coded the card and launcher themself, why didn't did add something extra like real realtimesave, the possibility to run original games, the emunand function or just something. Just so people choose their card above gateway. but for now it has exactly the same functions which gateway already has.

and now i am writing this i am wondering why they don't have a diagnostic test already (maybe because the gateway coded diagnostic test cant recognize 5he 3dslink and will show a fail?) So could anybody test this on a 3dslink and decide wheter this is a clone or not....

You call 3DS Link (Not "Link 3DS" as you have been calling it) the future and it hasn't been out even a week. Yes, absolutely. People didn't believe Gateway was real when it first came out. 3DS Link of course (also acceptably called 3D Link or Link 3DS) has shown only positive things so far. The same can not be said for today's Gateway, which is having trouble with hosting and the law.

Because it was delayed twice, not because it was a shitty product. Once reviews came out, the general consensus was overall positive.

3DS Link of course (also acceptably called 3D Link or Link 3DS) has shown only positive things so far.

Through videos made by the card maker themselves which show nothing Gateway hasn't already done. Both 3ds link and r4i deluxe gold even use the same Launcher.dat so they are most likely the same team under 2 different names. The R4i team has been out quite a while, but if you buy it then your almost guaranteed to see a revision within the next 1-3 months. Either that or cutting a wire to make it work.

Until an official review comes out from multiple sources, don't say its better because of how it fits all its components on 1 side of a PCB or it looks better.

The same can not be said for today's Gateway, which is having trouble with hosting and the law.

Welcome to the Hacking world my friend. That comes with the Job. Links and torrents rise and fall everyday. Doesn't mean they're an incompetent team. If modern day r4's didnt have homebrew they would be down right now too. The gateway team has already said their true goal is to create a homebrew so its only a matter of time before it happens. As for 3DS Link and R4i deluxe it remains to be seen as the team hasn't stated their long term goals and more importantly, NO ONE HAS THE CARD YET!

Well i don't know much about PCB but as far as i can see the GW have more components and that can mean there's more features hardware wise to the card than we know about. If the gold r4i have all that it needs in one side what do they cut out?? Less or smaller doesn't always mean better.
