Ah well looks like my wii as a media player has served it's time and now i'm looking into getting myself a media player that will stream movies from my pc to my tv.

Since the last Homebrew Channel update Wiimc always wants me to wait while it connects to smb shares even though the Homebrew wireless connection is connected.

If I pop to the bathroom between episodes I have to shut Wiimc down and restart it,

It was never the case before the Homebrew Channel update.

Now I know it is to do with the Homebrew channel because I have tried versions of Wiimc that were out before the Homebrew Channel update that worked ok.

Thanks to team FKwits for fixing summin that wasn't broken.

Why people can't leave things alone that work is beyond me.

The best thing they can do is to allow ppl the choice to update or not without the constant garbage onscreen like legit software where you can say no and it don't bother you if you say NOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Also everytime I update Wiimc there is always a new update, everyfeckinday so don't matter if I update every time I update there is another when I turn it back on.

I used to love my Wii for streaming, now it's just a pain.

So if anyone can recommend a good device to do what my Wii used to do TNX.

i'm using the plain wdtv. with custom firmware and a $1 wifi dongle from ebay, it allows streaming over wifi. and best of all, it supports all that hdmi, 1080p, 7.1 audio and all that other stuff the wii cant handle.

Well, you might check your wiimc install, because I do not have any isseus.
The fact that wiimc contantly asks you to update should ring a bell that something is broken in your setup.
Try a fresh install

just build a HTPC and use XBMC
you would also be able to launch roms with Advance Launcher, with a nice and clean interface with covers, snapshots, descriptions, etc.
