Hai. I just reinstalled Windows 7 and my new WEI score makes me curious.

Old WEI score:

Processor: 6,4
Memory (RAM): 6,4
Graphics: 6,8
Gaming graphics: 6,8
Primary hard disk: I don't remember, either 5,6 or 5,9

New WEI score:

Processor: 5,9
Memory (RAM): 6,1
Graphics: 6,8
Gaming graphics: 6,8
Primary hard disk: 5,9

Computer specs:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo 6400 @ 2,13 GHz (overclocked to 2,5 GHz)
GPU: Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT 512 MB
RAM: 4 GB DDR2

Is this because of the "good ol' Windows" or could it indicate that my processor/RAM is getting slower? There were no active processes during the test and Team Fortress 2 seems to run better since the reinstall.

When I installed Windows 7, I found out that it's rated out of 7.9 and a mate of mine mentioned it used to be less... Maybe that could be the reason why.

It could be the drivers... But then again... What version of windows 7 are you using? And was it the same version before?
I don't care about the ratings that windows gives so I never noticed if it had any dif results after I reformated the computer.

Windows Vista scores used to range from 1.0 to 5.9, but I've always been running Windows 7 Ultimate on this computer.

I've installed all drivers. I don't care about the Windows ratings that much either, but I'm wondering why my scores are different.

how about you run the tests once or twice again? if you didnt already...
could be a temporary problem, CPU too hot so it got throttled or something...

Here's a reason to care: it tells me my HD 4870 graphics are roughly at the same level as my new i5-2500K CPU (7.5). On one hand, it implies that my system is very balanced, on the other hand it implies that the difference between the HD 4870 and, say, a GTX 580 in gaming performance is only 0.4.

Now I know better, and you know better, but does Microsoft know better?
