Thing is, I cant really tell what the polycount is, because when I export the model it cant be reimported again, meaning the polys gets fucked up even in the export.

But Ive tried as simple stuff as a 4-sided box, still no luck...

I'm not sure, first I want to do all the texture edits as possible to see which ones will not work and which ones will. So far, Hylian Shield is the only one that refuses to work.

is their an easy way to do this? premade texture packs, simple gui editing or something or is it too early yet?
well done.

There isn't any real way of doing this yet. Texture packs won't be possible yet as there are few .arc that make the game crash if it's edited. You'll just have to wait till everything is learned about it.

Someone know why the models are deformed in the SZS Modifier ? I extracted them and put them into my 3D software to see if they were deform and yes... they were deform too...

The easiest it's getting right now is the xdelta patches for each file. You just have to extract them with WiiScrubber and patch, then replace and play.

SZS Modifier was made for Mario Kart; I'm not sure why they don't work properly for LOZ, but it's not too weird to me since it was made with a specific game in mind.

In other news: I tried replacing the strap screens (in root/US/Layout/StrapU.arc) and it broke the game... I had really liked the ones I made, too.

Someone, or rather a group of people, should try just making a quick change to each untested arc and see if it breaks the game so this doesn't happen again.

I'm already in the process of that. As of now, this is what I've found that breaks the game.

SwordGirl.arc (You have to edit it perfectly or else it breaks)
EquipShieldHylia.arc(This will not work at all for some odd reason)

I'll try the StrapU.arc later to see if I can get it working but so far, everything else seems to be perfectly edititable.

Are you talking about the model or texture?

Cause I replaced the texture with the same texture I used for Links upper body (1024x512) and that worked.
No, it wasnt pretty and the UW's were all off obviously, but game worked fine.

So far I havnt experienced any issues with replacing the textures, no matter how crap they are. The models are just impossible to replace though... Something is off in the export-import functions.

I'm busy for the next couple days so I can't try it, but you guys could try using the SZS Explorer in [CTools] for the import/export of models. Importing TPL's for the strap screens wasn't working with SZS Modifier so I used SZS Explorer and it worked for that (although the game still broke). Worth a shot!

SZS Explorer (from CTools) and SZS Modifier are two separate programs. I think SZS Explorer is more of a general purpose, while SZS Modifier was geared toward Mario Kart.

Ah yes sorry, I cant read this early in the morning lol.

Anyway, I am using szs explorer at least :)
But its not capable of exporting models/textures. Unless I have missed some setting which I doubt.

Thats not the model. Thats the archive file containing the models and textures. You need another app to open the .brres file and then export/replace the textures/models.

ok, so Ive temporarily given up on the models, and started on textures instead.

This is what Ive done atm, grass turned out quite nice I think (obviously it looks very out of place though)

I should change the gfx settings on dolphin.... That actually looks worse than it does on the Wii. I dont want to give high-res screenshots cause that would be misleading, imo.

Update:

Wont be spamming more updates now untill I have some more to show than just 1 new texture lol

Edit: Ok got a little more now:
2dmeg06.png

all ground textures replaced, stairs replaced, grass replaced, paths replaces ans soil replaced (not visible on image)

Oh, and I have no idea where the scanlines are coming from, but I have them in the unmodified .iso as well, so its not the textures. Probably some bug in Dolphin.

I also found a file that could possibly edit the effect of which the waterpaint effect happens, I just have to remember where it was lol.

@Lucif3r SwordGirl.arc was something I edited a long while ago. If it works then I'll have to edit it again and see.

Hm, I got a texture Im not sure where it belongs.... Its somewhere in skyloft, that I know...

the filename is F000_WK2_Fuudai02
I replaced it with some random stuff and ran around searching for it, but failed to see it...
So, anyone recall seeing something that that texture fits in on?

I remember that file name, I think it's somewhere near the bottom of ObjectPack. Something like Sky___.arc. Second bottom or something. I know this because I edited the statues face in Skyloft with Charlie Sheen's face. LOL
