Hello, I recently bought a SanDisk 128GB 3.2 USB for my Wii, although when I turn the console on with the USB inside, the console refuses to boot until I take it out and put it back in, which it then works fine with. I have formatted the USB to WBFS to work with USB Loader GX and even FAT32 before I found out how to use it with USB Loader. Does anyone know why or how this is happening?

Name Of Flash Drive: SanDisk 128GB Ultra Fit USB 3.2 Flash Drive

Is is plugged in port 0? (the lowest port, if the wii is in a horizontal position)
have you tried with any other usbs?
the flash drive shouldn't draw that much power, if somehow that's what preventing it from booting, but i don't think that's it.. does the power led stays red? Or does it turn green then red etc. when you try to power it on with the usb plugged in?

One potential option might be if the drive is drawing too much power for startup, I've done a quick test using my USB power meter and my 3.0 drive draws more power than my old 2.0 drive when I first plug it in, albeit with a usb 3.0 hub.

I would test a different USB drive or maybe even an older USB 2.0 portable HDD.

Edit:

Should note that the 3.0 was still within the Wii's official spec (~0.14 Vs ~0.07A with the Wii being 0.5A).

Were you ever able to solve this issue? I'm having the same issue with an SanDisk Ultra Fit 256Gb

Me too, I’ve been using chat gpt, and it’s advised me to get a 2.0 usb that’s worth 32/64/256gb as they work better.
