For some reason wii sports doesn't detect the nunchuk when trying to play the boxing mode.
This is the only game where this happens, I tried using original and non original nunchuk with different wiimotes.

I tried:
- cIOS 248, 249, 250 and 251 in the game and loader settings.
- other games with nunchuk (all working as intended) like warioware smooth moves, mario kart wii, super mario galaxy and even mario kart double dash with nintendont.

I have everything up to date:
USB Loader GX v4.0-r1283
cIOS with d2x-v11-beta3

The only thing I could think of being the issue is the fact that I'm using an sd card instead of a hard drive, but honestly I'm not sure and I don't have a spare drive to test it.

What else should I do/diagnose? :(

Will try to reproduce, not my favorite game though. Will report back by tomorrow :)

I just tried it with US release of Wii Sports + Wii Sports Resorts. Wii Sports boxing has the nunchuk recognized and I can perfectly punch with my nunchuck and the mii registered as righthanded. Tested on latest USB Loader GX with a wiimote motion plus inside nunchuck combo.

Hello, I managed to replicate your problem and I figured out a solution, simply go to USB loader GX settings and reset your settings back to default and now it should work.
I'll post a quick update once I figure out what setting was causing this.

Btw I'm using the latest USB loader GX with the latest cIOS as well and I'm using the original version of Wii sports (not sure about the revision but that shouldn't matter either way).

Update: I found the misbehaving setting: "VIDTV Patch", turn it off and it should be recognizing your nunchuk now.

Please note that you do not need to turn off this setting entirely, if you want to use it for everything else just turn it on in the USB loader GX settings and then before starting Wii Sports go into its settings and from there you can turn off VIDTV Patch for that game alone. I hope this helps^_^

:yaywii:For future reference I had the same problem.
:yaywii:Update CIOS and USB Loader to latest.
:yaywii:Check the Version of the Game your using there are 2 Revisions I updated to Rev 1 (version 1.01).
:yaywii:Run the Game under IOS 249 via USB Loader GX / WiiFlow.

Shouldnt VIDTV not be disabled by default as long as you dont face video output issues? I had indeed VIDTV disabled.

Yeah, the VIDTV patch is normally off by default.

When something doesn’t work correctly, I recommend resetting the loader to its default settings, avoiding manual cIOS configuration, and applying per-game settings instead of global ones.
