In the current state of the world, the 3DS is, sadly, on decline. That makes getting StreetPasses harder and harder, due to fewer and fewer people taking their 3DS with them on a walk. This is where NetPass comes in!
Unlike StreetPass, NetPass works over the internet. Upon opening NetPass, you can pick various locations to go to, i.e. the train station, or a town plaza. Upon entering a location, you get passes of others who are in the same location! And, while you are at the location, others who enter it can get passes with you. But beware! You can only switch locations once every 10 hours!

To install NetPass, either scan this QR code or install via Universal Updater:

Please note that the QR code never changes and is always up-to-date as new releases come out!

v1.0.0 is released! You can find more information on it here: https://gbatemp.net/threads/netpass-a-new-way-to-experience-streetpass.664005/post-10632035

Version v0.6.0 just released! It contains a beta to utilize StreetPass-Relay (SPR) for real background updating of passes! (https://gitlab.com/3ds-netpass/netpass/-/releases/v0.6.0)

To activate SPR, you are required to
1. Use Pretendo
2. In luma, enable both "game patching" and "loading external firms/modules"
3. In NetPass settings, click on "Write patches". If you run luma from nand, copy over the created patches to nand
4. In NetPass settings, click on "Clear spr cache". This *will* reboot your console

To deactivate SPR, you need to
1. Delete the created patch files
2. In NetPass settings, click on "Clear spr cache"

the Netpass stationary is hacked in. you can either hack it in yourself, or when you got tagged it unlocked it automatically, I think.

I "bought" one swapnote pass and instantly regretted it (for the same reason Nintendo shut the thing down).
Report it. Either throught the Netpass app, buuuuut, better throught their Discord server. They got a ModMail system there.

That's just what happen when games allow custom stuff. Of course you will get people doing inappropriate things, regardless of the platform, game and options.

Unfortunately Swapnote doesn't attribute SpotPass messages.

@sorunome I tried to report this individual and their username is some kind of zero width space, and the report errors with code -404. 2024-11-24 10:38:00. console is set to utc+1

i'd also help a lot if it showed which app data was exchanged for, beyond plaza

I thoroughly enjoy this piece of software. Takes me back to being 16 and hanging out at the skate park all day, which may as well have been the official nintendo meet-up in my town. Haven't gotten an IRL streetpass tag in probably eight years by now, so this is awesome.

There's a certain kind of charm of meeting users and their Miis from around the globe, even if it sometimes ends up being inappropriate. I might just get to complete all puzzle swap panels after all, without hacking them in. The Mii Plaza is finally alive and bustling again, I dig it. I'm a little concerned about receiving arbitrary data from random users across the world, but what's the worst that can happen? Are there any streetpass-enabled games that have known exploits using streetpass data, anything I should watch out for and maybe disable in the settings? I love having new ghosts to race against in MK7, for example.

Also, what's the deal with the user list in the netpass app? I have met maybe 250 Miis, but the app shows a total of 13 users in the "report a user" setting. No new users show up there, despite getting new and different streetpass tags every day.

reports seem to have some issues currently :(

The server does quite some additional verification of the messages being sent to try and remove malicious payloads. Jf you are aware of any exploits, please poke soru i DM so that she can filter those out!

In this step:

To deactivate SPR, you need to
1. Delete the created patch files
2. In NetPass settings, click on "Clear spr cache"

what files I need delete? do from app or delete files from SD card?

/luma/sysmodules/netpass-activate-sprelay.3dsx or atleast, it was specifically named like that during testing of the SPR feature.

Currently the only file to delete is /luma/sysmodules/0004013000003402.ips

Nah, that is something else. Plus that file is not needed at all since v0.6.1, it was as a short pre-release thingy in between
oh my god I only discovered this now, gonna try it asap
Hopes you'll like it!
but is necessary delete file when I finish use one time netpass?
You don't need to deactive SPR at all, you can just leave it being on. If you activate or deactive SPR has nothing to do with if you can still get the passes when opening NetPass or about the already transported passes what happens to them. TL;DR you can activate/deactivate SPR as much as you want and it should not affect at all what you get.
