GBA Border Patrol 2021-06-21

This is a batch script I wrote to simplify merging the 3 .bin files into default.bin for GBARunner2. I compiled it from .bat into a .exe file, and have included the source batch file as well, so you can see how it works, and modify it to your liking. The batch file finds the 3 .bin files, merges them, spits out default.bin, and then deletes the original 3 .bin files since they're no longer needed.

This ZIP file contains a _gba folder with all the game covers already inside, as well as some example frames I made myself that you can test the compiler with.

GBA Export Settings.png is there to show you what settings to use in GRIT for exporting.

The 8 frames included are my own work, and may be freely distributed. GRIT is also included in this ZIP file.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:

It's old but it's the best firmware out for DS stuff

it says it only works for the original R4, R4i Gold (r4ids.cn), R4iDSN (r4idsn.com) and Acekard R.P.G.
