Hey look, I'm writing about this too! Almost didn't write because the topic comes up too much already, but I felt the need to vent. Apologies for the possibly rather broken sentences, I've been sick and exhausted for days. Really messing with my mind.
So a friend and I are basically the "know-about-3DS-mods" guys in our local community, consisting of about 90 people-ish (and still growing), and this used to not be a problem since nothing really went wrong. We're cautious about what to install on what 3DS, haven't had a single brick yet. Since we know all these people fairly well, we limit some users from what they can and can't do, although if they manage to figure it out for themselves, it's not like we can actually do anything. Thus, some are still on EmuNAND based set-ups while others are on A9LH.
Besides being one of the two who know about this stuff, I've resisted the temptation of playing the game with the early leak (even though I'm one of the European waiting people) and have managed to stay spoiler-free despite still using the internet. I honestly believe this could be a miracle.
Sadly, with the Sun/Moon bans happening, I'm constantly bombarded with questions of how to undo the ban. Right now, I'm still holding my cards on whether or not the ban is actually permanent, even though there are the circulating emails happening, because I believe there's a chance it's not actually permanent. I give people this, yet they can't stop pestering me about it. Why?
It's because they can't go online with Sun/Moon.
So now I'm sitting here, thinking to myself. Should I even have helped those people? I feel like it's a miracle that they can tie their own shoes at this point. Certain people now ask me every day, presenting some other e-mail saying it's permanent. Do they honestly believe I'll change what I'm saying based on the same damn thing, as long as you present it long enough? And the worst part is that I warned them. I warned them all about going online early. Nobody listened, and now nobody is taking a lesson from this. I get the feeling that if the ban actually is permanent, then they really do expect that I'm going to help them, but I'm not sure if I want to. I'd rather quit this community and it's respective game over helping such a large amount of stubborn, ignorant idiots. I don't mean to sound like a jerk, but it's what I feel is the truth.
