Portal & Gaming

Portal, for me has been one of those games that I'd make some progress in, up to a certain point (let's say level 15 or 16). Then just forget about for a while. I went on a limb and played it for 3-4 hours and got to level 19, where I'm probably going to be stuck for a while :P, just the level itself, not the escape. Youtube walkthroughs are only so helpful... But yeah, I totally get it... The cake is a lie.... I walked into the survivors base, read that on the wall... mused aloud to myself, "The cake is a lie!" and then just started cracking up... I mean, I just never really got the reference till now (I tend to take things very literally, so if I don't see the context) I don't find it funny. But yeah, I'll be saving after every little baby step of progress in order to finish that game.

I guess I never really mentioned it, but I also beat Half Life 1 and Half Life 2 (excluding episode one and two, which I'm saving for a time when I just need a shooter, that I'd well... actually play).

Final Fantasy IV DS - I'm still stuck on the side-quests part, kind of lost all will to play it to be totally honest.
Pokemon Black/White - Eh, I caught 2 pokemon in the starter zones, leveled them up a little bit, haven't made much progress.

Things are shaping up again on my Ubuntu partition (using Lutris as a front-end for my emulators) I'll probably set that up again today if I have time. I really want to play through Grandia or Legend of the Dragoon; the soundtracks are pretty freaking amazing. I also love the music player, what's the name? Oh. RhythmBox ~ such a simple, elegant light-weight music player.

Went ahead and installed Mass Effect 1 and 2, as well as Bioshock w/ what little space I have on this partition left. I know my youngest brothers' beaten the first one; so maybe I'll ask him for some help.

I really want to get PCSX2 working on my Ubuntu partition; it's proving to be a little trickier than some of the other emulator setups. Lots of terminal commands to grab this or that as required by PCSX2 in order for it to run, but it's a neat experience; seeing how repositories and such work.

I'm still working my way through Buffy the Vampire Slayer, I'm on the last season; season 7, around episode 10 or so... Also have Smallville and Supernatural to watch today... Really thinking more along the lines of Supernatural > Smallville.

Life wise... Classes are going alright; telecommunications is a bit of a bummer; have to read two chapters a week because of the way in which the class was setup. Then again, I'm just a lazy-part time student, so I'm sure that I'll manage. Geez, I can't get that theme from Legend of the Dragoon out of my head... that first bit of lyricism... Bah XD.

I personally dislike having a list of "must play" games :P I mainly stay with one game for a long time, and only change after finishing it. Same with Anime and TV series actually. Too many to follow, too long list of doing stuff :S
Therefore I've not bothered playing Mass Effect 1 or 2, or Half Life 1 or 2 either.
But I have beaten Portal, right when I started it (not in one day of course!). It's uniqueness really caught me, and I didn't need any walkthroughs to beat it. I just stay in one level for a while, and suddenly figure it out...

But seriously though, you have to beat Portal! It's not even that long! :D

Congratulations. I hope you enjoyed the experience as much as I do, because it sounds as if you kinda just ordered a burger and woofed it down =/.

@ The Ey Man, yeah, I really need to work on being more consistent like you are. That said, ME2 got so many game of the year accolades that I thought it'd be a bad idea not to get around to playing it. (RPGamer, RPGfan, 1up, etc). I don't really think very well on my feet; and have trouble with spatial awareness, so Portal has been a bit of a mind-trip for me.
