While perusing the local Craigslist for a new DS Lite, I stumbled upon this gem:
“This add [sic] is for real. If you are interested you can see for yourself. I am selling a white DS Lite with charger. This system also comes with an R4 card and a 2GB mini sd card. There are approximately 30 games on the card. Here is a list of the games:
Brain Age
Castlevania— Dawn of Sorrow
Chibi-Robo-park patrol†(etc, etc.)
Nothing odd here, just a guy shilling a flashcart- except for the fact that he’s selling it for 700 DOLLARS. Clearly, this…opportunistic fellow is trying to swindle the less-informed majority of handheld enthusiasts. But he’s really saving you money! See, his ad says so:
“All of the games, plus the system and cards in a store would cost well over $1000.00. I am asking 700.00 or best offer.â€
Then comes the best part:
“serious inquiries only.â€
Well. That sounds like a challenge. And that’s why I am inviting you, as the more responsible members of the homebrew community, to e-mail this seller and set him straight, post your conversation with him here-- but don't link back to this thread. Additionally, try flagging the posting as spam. Make sure no one gets scammed by this guy.
EDIT: We did it! The posting on Craigslist has been flagged for removal. Thanks to all for the help.
