Hacking WiiU is a lost cause

The wii was a system with universal appeal and a gigantic library of games. This meant that there were millions of consoles just waiting for an easy way to pirate games. This laid the foundation for a thriving homebrew scene and made the wii an emulation super console. The wii is still my most played console.

The WiiU is dead. It's library of must have games can be counted on a top ten list, most of which will be in the $5 bargain bin in a matter of months. Plus relatively few people even own the console. At this point I feel like emulation is a more viable means of playing "backups", which let's face it, is all anyone really wants. At this point I feel like a user friendly soft mod is too late to be meaningful.

Sure the people lurking in these threads will be happy, but at this point is there any real motivation for hackers to finish this project?

Cool story bro. >.> What is going to come of this post, really? Did you think about what you were contributing before posting? I think it's pretty obvious you didn't.

This should have been opened up as a blog post. It holds no relevance to anything WiiU hacking.

These are valid questions I guess ... but when someone give you a cake, do you complain and say it's not relevant?

22 posts in three years and this topic is worthy of your time?
This thread is a Lost Cause.

3 consoles in one! Comfy as fuck tablet to play all your Gamecube games(I hope) and emulators on!
Dont forget that it would be one hell of a great media center!

..also, not sure why this thread is here.. not really of any use.. like the other said, it should have been a blog or in eof..

Thanks for the vote of confidence. All us Wii U homebrew developers who pour hours into a project that refuses to work with no tangible gain on our part really feel encouraged by this sort of thing, really. I'm actually considering quitting school to take this on full-time just because this post exists - it's such a unique viewpoint that I've never seen before and is clearly well researched; the author must know a hell of a lot about the homebrew scene and how this sort of thing works. My motivation for doing this is obviously all about the e-fame and having my work in as many people's hands as possible and has nothing to do with personal hobbies, ownership of the hardware, or a surprisingly tight and friendly set of developers. I am completely self-centred and need to be pushed to do anything because again, my total motivation for being here is to feel important and to have my code used by literally every person on Earth. I'm glad I chose the Wii U for this purpose since absolutely everyone owns one and as we all know from the Sega Dreamcast, the most popular console is the only one worth playing and is the only one worth my time. As usual, I'm measuring popularity by the number of games available for the system since this number could never be skewed by advertising, development troubles, licensing policies or other bias. These numbers are the most accurate in the world, I am the most important person in the world and I use the Wii U since it is clearly the most important console in the world.
Thank you.

Also a Bluray-Player-App would be really nice... Homebrew could do so much for the wiiu. I really like the Tablet and the fact, that you can play 99% of all Nintendo Consoles out there on this device (just no 3ds, but i own one anyway ^^).

I'm just happy with whatever comes from it, there's literally nothing to lose (well maybe some online features)
Why anyone wouldn't want extra functionality from their games consoles is beyond me.

Just from vwii homebrew my wii u has got more attention from me

No it doesn't

It may be true that the Wii U wasn't big like the Wii, but there's still people who care about the Wii U
You basically told to all of the Wii U developers a "Get a life. Wii U isn't important"
And that, bud, it isn't true. If the Wii U would be dead as you said, nobody would be working on homebrew for it and nobody would really want the IOSU since it's "dead".
Ninty may have killed it, but for us Wii U isn't dead. Every day around the world someone is working on a homebrew Wii U exploit. From simple tests and mini-games, to emulators and then IOSU-chan

Also. Wii U has more great games: The fact that you're only focusing on MK8, Splatoon, SSB4 doesn't means its MUST-HAVE games we're just a few.

What about SM3DW? Bayo 1 and 2? WWHD? TPHD? HW? Pikmin 3? CTTT? SMM? YWW? Kirby and the rainbow curse? Xenoblade Chronicles? Mario Part 10? *I liked it :v* (And yes, these count as 10 games. However many people when they talk about the best games of the Wii U, either be about the best games or saying how it has just a few games that will be in a bargain for $5. MK8, SSB and Splatoon pop-up instantly in their head)

Sorry, but I don't agree with you, OP, I have to respectfully disagree, there are many people who are interested in Wii U development; these kinds of posts, they're pretty much doing anything but helping said developers.
