FML

Damn the universe can't give me a break so I bought a ps3 3 weeks ago and my bad luck or karma decides to give it a YLOD. Luckily I got an extended warranty. But fuck I lost all my saves(I had a gut feeling I shoulda backed up my saves weekly but I didn't listen)

Was it homebrewed? You might get the saves back if you can send it in to Sony.

Its not Sony warranted its a 60 gig model(aka bc model) its covered by the game store and their way is by swapping it out with another model. Id be cool with that if I didn't have saves. And no it wasn't hacked.

It would void a factory warranty. Not sure what the terms of the warranty he has from the store are though.

I don't think so but I think they can refuse to take it back so I'll try workin something out with employee(maybe if I'm lucky he'll swap the 2 ps3's hdd)

You know, the YLOD is completely fixable. Just sayin'. You could keep your backwards compatibility. I'm sure they'll just fix and resell the system anyways. The core of fixing it is the reapplication of thermal paste.

You could just take it to a repair shop, shell out probably around $35 for the repair (more if they're dicks) and get it done. I mean, there is no guarantee you'll get one with backwards compatibility again, and as it is a bit of a commodity, I would do what I could to not lose it.

I guarantee you someone reflowed the board and sold it to the shop. When you reflow the board, it can last from either a few days up to a few months (depending on luck). You would have to reball the board if you truly want to fix the problem.

Just swap with another playstation, too bad about the saves though.
