I Should Have Known Better

This blog will be short and to the point.

Yes, I should have known better than to have hastily and blindly purchased the Nintendo 3DS - at launch. And while this blog is by no means meant to be a self pity rant or a "blame Nintendo" blog it is a thoughtful recollection as to why I bought it knowing full well I shouldn't have. From the announcement of the Nintendo 3DS to its launch I was quite intrigued by the tech and even the 3D gimmick. I allowed the vail of awesomeness and hype to overtake the single most important factor when purchasing any system: Compelling content. Nintendo promised compelling content and failed. I can't blame Nintendo for being a business and quite greedy at that. It is clear that they could have sold it for less and still have made a profit. I really think they rushed the product. Regardless I am to blame for buying it at launch, I confirmed to them that they could sell it at $250. Initially I naively thought that I could resell it for profit *facepalm* and was the reason why I casually walked in to gamestop at launch half expecting that I wouldn't get a copy(at the time I assumed demand would be sky high). To sum this up I don't want to leave the wrong impression. As a handheld collector the 3DS is a welcome edition to my collection. This was the first time I bought a system at launch and I would be lying if I said that it would necessarily be the last. I have however learned to not think in haste and consider the content and price heavily. I don't want this blog to be about morality but in this case "patience IS a virtue". I laugh at my self and chuckle remembering those who said they would wait as long as it took for a reasonable price cut. Well in my opinion we have it, and its been only 5 months after launch. If you somehow got through this blog(thanks!) I would like your perspective on the 3DS price cuts and people who bought it at launch.

edit: I plan on taking Nintendo on their ambassador membership status and downloading the exclusive content. However I have yet to update to the latest update from this week. Does anyone know if the Acekard 2i is compatible with the latest update?

I never expected it, but oh well.
I could easily just return my 3DS and buy it cheaper (or get a price match).

Too lazy though. I'm not that fussed by $80...that's like a days work.

You have a point, though if I were you I would return it, but of course its entirely up to.

Nothing was blocked flash cart wise in the latest update. A lot of people aren't happy with what they are being offered either. 20 old games doesn't equal out to basically being scammed in the eyes of many people.

well you knew what you were getting into.. i suppose its not that bad since u have your acekard running on it at least you can use the analog stick in ds games!

Look at the benefit you get 10 Nes games that will most likely be $5/6 plus 10 gba games that are apparently exclusive for a bit. Nes doesn't matter so much but gba with out the battery destroying supercard2 is nice. Even though I have a Wiz for all my classic gaming this is a nice gesture from Nintendo.

I suppose I personally don't like to be handed a piece meal offering by a company in "good will". These are old games that can be gotten elsewhere, this is my opinion of course.

I don't understand what people are ranting about all over the net. We live in a mostly capitalistic world, the downside of that is that people will try to sell you things at as high a price as they possibly can. If you were a manufacturer of something and you wanted to sell it for a profit, then you would sell it for as much as people are prepared to pay for it.
I was happy with the price of the 3DS, I'll get use out of it most days out of the week for probably 3 or 4 years, the price seems fair to me. You have to add up the 'value' of the system. You mentioned acekard, so no doubt you download a lot of your games, so that's a lot of money your not spending there, which gives you less to complain about.

People are morons if they cry scam. Frankly I could sympathize with electronics stores, I doubt they're getting reimbursed and it's unlikely they'll sell the 3DS's they have before the price drop, cutting profits significantly.

Otherwise people can just do what I said, return it, price match, or not care because it's not a lot of money.
More or less people who bought it at launch bought the "privilege" of having the 3DS before the cheapskates, lol.
aand i'm totally fine with that.

There are very few people I just have just an immense dislike of and he's one of those very few people, the only other example is Gene Simmons. My musician uncle on my mother's side of the family actually met Gene once during some event and said he was the most unpleasant person to be around.
