Some people..

Okay, so I live in a small town. And almost everyone in the community uses facebook. Pretty good thing if you wanna contact someone.
But a girl in my school, (she was in my class last year) heard from her sisters' boyfriend, that out local doctor, whom everyone knows and loves, was dead.
Which turned out to be completely untrue.

And upon hearing this she thought it might be a good idea to post it on facebook.
The rumor spread, as rumors do, and before long nearly the whole town knew about it. Some people got pretty upset, as you could imagine.
A day I had read the 'news' on facebook people were calling to tell us that he had died.
Later we found that the rumor wasn't true and now everyone's pretty pissed off.

I can't believe that someone completely unrelated to the person would feel as if it was their duty to post the news of a mans death all over facebook. She didn't even hear it from a reliable source.
A lot of people were hurt from this girls stupid mistake. people need to get their facts straight before they post things like that. :angry2:

I've heard worst things happen.

Someone went to one of the family's funeral, but the person in the coffin wasn't related to them! And the person who was supposedly dead, was alive.

Which is why I don't use Facebook.

Rumors there are like the speed of light.

I agree.
unfortunately most people I know on facebook don't know a lot about it and treat it like a newspaper.
it only takes one person to spread a rumor beyond facebook.
Oh, and one stupid girl with no regard for others' feelings.

(She's in a lot of trouble now.)
