Someone at my school got ripped off.

So there's this kid at my school who recently bought an iPod Touch 2G for about $100. A week later, he thinks that his iPod broke because no matter what he did, he couldn't unlock the device. Then, another person offers to sell him a PSP. What did he sell it for? $200 and the supposedly broken iPod. The other one happily agrees, convinced that it was a steal. As you all know, PSPs are about $120. And it turns out that the iPod just needed a restore and now, it's back in working condition. Obviously, he got ripped off REALLY bad, and he doesn't even realize it. What do you think about the situation?

He's ridiculously immature and as you said, naive. A little bit inside me says that he had it coming.

sound like my two younger brothers, how many times have i stopped them from getting ripped...
They trust humans they don't know waaaaaaaay to much.

Now, is there anybody that can do anything about it?[/quote]

Perhaps, if anyone who knew about what happened actually cared. All of his 'friends' know about it, but they didn't say anything.

Short answer, NOPE.

Your friend could've searched all the prices of everything first.
And, any iPod Touch problem (or almost any) can be fixed with Google.
So maybe this will teach the kid to do some research beforehand, but there's nothing you can do.
:/ Sorry.

To be honest, he's not a very bright kid. He doesn't even realize he got ripped off.

If he's dumb enough to not realize he's got ripped off, and even look up average prices of stuff, he deserved it.

You guys are thinking in terms of monetary value.

If the kid is happy with the exchange, then let him be.

Well, you know what to do...

Trade a broken DS Lite to him for the PSP and 200 dollars.

Hey guys, today I sold my PSP I originally bought for $100 to some kid in exchange for $200 and what he thought was a broken iPod touch. What a dumbass!

Lucky bastard. The guy who sold him the PSP, that is. The other guy's a fucking dumbass.

You won't believe the number of oppertunities you get at my school. From grade-increasing choices to getting money for pretty much nothing.

DUDE! I was reading on a forum, about someone who traded their iPod touch which they thought was broken and $200 to someone who traded a PSP. Man, small world.

Number one rule of making legit money fast; rip off suckers!

All it takes is one smart person, and one dumb person to make this work.

You can't help those stupid, you can only help those willing to be helped.

I am trying to find someone with knowledge on that willing to help me
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:

    @BigOnYa,
I don't listen? What didn't I listen at? I just want to know all the possible risks on that part
  • A @ ATEMVEGETA:
Hayato even said it's dangerous to backup the save files to CFW
  • A @ ATEMVEGETA:
how is this dangerous? A ton of people did this it's the most common thing to do with CFW
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
    Then do it

@BigOnYa, Man, first of all thanks for your willing to help, much appreciated. But, it's not that I "don't want to listen", rather than I need soemone to EXPLAIN to me how and why all these are risky.

  • A @ ATEMVEGETA:
For example, HOW is is risky to get banned if you extract the save files to the CFW?
  • A @ ATEMVEGETA:
isn't this proccess be done while you're offline?
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
We are not Nintendo, so we don't know exactly how/why/when they ban, but better to stay on the safe side and not do shady stuff, if you don't want to be banned. Hayato is one of the most knowledgeable ones here on the subject and I believe what he says.

  • A @ ATEMVEGETA:
@BigOnYa, Yes ofc we don't know how Nintendo bans work, but if there are situations where a lot of people have tried safely then we can at least assume that this path is pretty much safe. To say don't try anything homebrew relative just to be safe forever is the easiest thing to say to someone. What I am trying to figure out here is with which cases and what actions got most of the people their bans for.
  • A @ ATEMVEGETA:
Most things I can find resulting to a ban is save-editing reasons, like Pokehex, etc, and going online afterwards.
