2001: A Space Oddysey

Oh... my.... god.....

This..... is the... greatest movie I have ever seen in my life.

A terrific, horrific sci-fi thriller filled with mystery, metaphor, layers and layers of deep meaning, and quite possibly several life lessons. To those of you who haven't seen it, go now.

Although one note, if you are an idiot who can't catch a metaphor that's thrown right at your face (which I know many of you are) then this movie will be a colossal bore.


The most powerful and influental movie I have ever seen.

I read the book ages ago and thought it was pretty damn good.

Have yet to see the movie though.

I loved it too. Never read the book series though.

BTW, see 2010 The Year We Make Contact if you have a chance. I really liked it even though it doesn't stack up to it's predecessor. It's still an excellent sci-fi flick IMHO.

Yea, it is, number #2 on my top 10 list. Unfortunately for modern culture though, it is number 80 on IMDB's Top 250. WALL-E is number 28. (Right about Citizen Kane, at number 29)


There is a film by Tarkovsky called Stalker, you should see it.

Give Stalker a couple of viewings and a lot of thought, it is a cinematic masterpiece (Ironically Tarkovsky didn't like 2001).

That is to be expected with new films, but give it time and it'll probably be out of the top 100.

This film itself is one of those that I sometimes love and sometimes don't, hard to say why.
