Drinking alcohol.....stories.

My roommates suspect me of drinking. Why, you ask? Because I like to slam down my thermos lid after drinking warm water. It, in theory sounds like someone doing shots - but I don't drink...unless I'm out clubbing or something. Really silly, right?

Speaking of drinking - beer gets me hammered much faster than hard liquor. I basically started out drinking hard liquor when I was 19 (yes, Canada's awesome sauce drinking laws), and then switched over to beer. To this day (7 yearrs later), I basically get affected much more by beer. Basically, even now, I drink like I'm in college - vodka, rum, and beer are favourites.

So, why am I typing this? Currently, one of my friends is over at her house...doing multiple technicolor yawns. These were induced by massive consumption of beer. I'm tempted to go over there with a bottle of evian and some multivitamin tablets to save her sorry ass, but her boyfriend is there - and he is severely homophobic and thinks I'm going to steal his girl (my friend) away from him for a night of passion.

So, I'm doing the passive-aggressive thing, and writing about him on gbatemp.

Edit: Oh yes, I also hate the campus pub. The people who run it seem to think of the most sexist themes to start off with, and it's just really stupid. This halloween, the theme was the playboy fucking mansion. I have never seen so much flesh in the first place. And I was severely mocked for wearing the pyramid head costume instead of being on display for all to see. Also, the bouncers are pretty unprofessional - they will let anyone in who rates 9/10 and the normal girls are just left behind. I refuse to play by gender roles, so I'm generally in the 10% who are denied entry. Many people have complained, but nothing happens to these people!

I imagine it is the same in Canada as it is in the UK but most campus bars sell whatever the breweries can not sell to real pubs/bars (one of the ways they make themselves considerably cheaper) and as you have already disparaged beer you are not likely missing much. Also 19 being "early" to start amuses me almost as much as being asked by 20 year olds driving really nice cars to buy them beer when I am stateside.

Re halloween: there is a reason it is otherwise known as "annual dress like a tramp/slut day", having experienced student life all over the Europe and the US the same scene would have been repeated pretty much wherever you went that night (and indeed many other student nights with the possible change for tight clothes rather than just skin).

Re your friend's boyfriend. Alas I and those I know have never been placed in such a situation but I guess the usual policy on idiots would apply if it should happen.

Hmmm, Since I never been into a campus before, I can't say much. Homophobic act is a bit unreal to me, heck lesbians and gays are no different from straight people. Personally, they do act a little bit more mature due to their open-minded attitudes.

So very true....which made America very strange...I got IDed and couldn't get served (in one place, then we went elsewhere).

Kinda made me chuckle that 19 is supposedly an awesome age. Also, Halloween is like that everywhere, which is kinda sad really, but what can you do....Kids today....I dunno....

The law over here is that you may drink from your 16th birthday, but people usually starts way earlier. By the way, I got really drunk on the sunday after my 16th birthday.
Let's just say that the word barrelrofl best described my activities of that evening.
We had lots of beer and some Blue Curacao (liquor)

Getting Drunk is for Fools.

By the way, An Alcohol is associated with an increased risk of a number of cancers. 3.6% of all cancer cases and 3.5% of cancer deaths worldwide are attributable to alcohol drinking. Breast cancer in women is linked with alcohol intake. Alcohol also increases the risk of cancers of the mouth, esophagus, pharynx and larynx, colorectal cancer, liver cancer, stomach and ovaries.

BUT....

If you are like many Americans, you may drink alcohol occasionally. Or, like
others, you may drink moderate amounts of alcohol on a more regular basis. If
you are a woman or someone over the age of 65, this means that you have no
more than one drink per day; if you are a man, this means that you have no
more than two drinks per day. Drinking at these levels usually is not associated
with health risks and can help to prevent certain forms of heart disease.

But did you know that even moderate drinking, under certain circumstances, is
not risk free? And that if you drink at more than moderate levels, you may be
putting yourself at risk for serious problems with your health and problems with
family, friends, and coworkers? This document explains some of the
consequences of drinking that you may not have considered.

Its your choice!

If you would please do everyone a favor and shut the fuck up, that would be really nice of you, see? Nobody cares about what you have to say.

As for your claim, how can you reach the level of stupidity that it takes to make such a definitive claim about something that is most definitely false? How much research did you put into this? What are your sources other than some ridiculous little website or magazine article? See, contrary to you, I have done a lot of formal research on breast cancer, and your claim is so unsourced that it is outright a lie.

YOU SHOULD SHOW SOME RESPECT for such a serious illness, that you treat here as a boogie man, you motherfucker.

Or what? Are you an avant-guarde biologist and this is the work of your life? Breast cancer is generated by alcohol intake? What a worthy cause. As I said before, shut the fuck up.

Mark, Just ignore him, He's just a troll...

Same here, went to Canada for college, hard liquor was cheaper and more readily available, so I got used to it. Now I drink beer (because I live in America, the land of cheap beer and limited gov' control of alcohol), and one or two gets me drunk, while a mickey of rum will just get me buzzed.

Also sorry to hear about the campus bar, I avoid those things like the plague. Heck, I avoided all bars like the plague because my friends didn't really do the bar thing.

Here's a little story for you, one time I was in Causeway Bay (popular commercial district) and this girl who, as you might say, 'rejected gender roles' was handing out fliers for a club. The flier was advertising a ladies night (women get in free), and the ironic thing was, there was no way in hell that this girl promoting their club would have been able to take advantage of that deal! I was gonna ask her how she felt about that but she didn't know English, so life goes on.

Its statistically proven that over-opinionated twats who can't handle their beer get punched in the face for being fuckwits with no life.

Its also statistically proven that 79% of these fuckwits still live at home with their mommy and have daily fap-athons over anime cos they can't integrate with real people (aka society) or pull a chick, FACT!!

Seriously, are you like one of those mormons? Don't get me wrong, freedom of religion and all that but you just seem to not want to have any kind of good times in your life.
My conclusion: shut the hell up.

I lol'd at starting drinking at your 19'th birthday.

I'm a dutchfag, common age to start here is 14-16 years old.

Hahaha. I like beer and hard liquor - it's just that beer gets me there quicker.

Yeah, I'm a loser - but I kind of like being a loser --> at least I won't get into trouble over some girl.

I drink in moderation and avoid the chicks at parties, seriously, if I want a chick, I would talk to her while sober and take her out to lunch or dinner.
