Hamster Garden

Maybe you guys could appreciate this. I've kind of gotten into aquariums, terrariums, ecosystems. This hamster garden is a Christmas present for Rick. He is named after Rick from Kirby. It will be connected to his current cage via hamster tubes. It has a pond, a desert area, sunflowers, millet (wheat), rolly pollys, earth worms, indoor potting soil, and a $40 grow light from home depot.
Do you think he will like it? The other picture is just my 3 gallon planted tank.View attachment 188985 View attachment 188986 View attachment 188987 View attachment 188988 View attachment 188989 View attachment 188990

Hamster is very cute. I had hamster before until his lifespan ended. :( I was so proud to take great care of him and gave him a lot of affectionate. Missed him. I was teenager at the time.

By the way, you shouldn't bathe him/her at all. They are different. According to this hamster expert advisor:

Can I give my hamster a bath?

The hamsters usually don't need the bath as they clean themselves by licking. ... Please do not bathe your hamster with water. It strips it's fur of the natural oils and makes it easy for them to catch diseases, the most common and deadly being wet-tail. As a safe alternative, please give your hammy a sand bath.

Please don't! You will regret one day. Listen to hamster expert advisor and I never bathe him in my life.

Thanks for the tip. We only bathed him that one time because he peed and pooped in his ball and it got all over him. I will deffinately keep this in mind next time.

You are welcome.

No. don't bathed him if he peed and pooped.. NEVER! One time can lead to damage his special furs.

In the wild, they never bathe in the water in their life.

@Negatronic: You can just use wet (not too wet but moisture enough) clothe or something and wipe his private area carefully. Not all over his furs. He has special furs. All you need some sand in the mini plastic box on the side so he can dig it and shake himself off. Keep his furs healthy and shiny. ;)

Wow. Some people go all out for cat treats.

Yes, we have 2 cats. One loves Ricks, one wants to eat Rick. Strangely the one who loves Rick is a much more prolific hunter.
But just food for thought, hamsters in the wild control large areas of land. Store bought hamster cages are nowhere near large or stimulating enough to keep a hamster happy and healthy. That won't stop the store from making tons of money selling hamsters with cheap plastic and metal cages.
