Got back from the M12 pre-release yesterday evening. I went to the store (which is about an hour drive) with my friend on Friday and stayed over his grandpa's house for Saturday. Here's what happened.
We got there Friday and entered the store. After browsing a bit, we were hyped and we decided to split New Phyrexia box. It's a typical Warhammer/Magic hobby store so we went to a room and decided to open the box. Once word got out that we bought a box a bunch of people started swarming in to see what we got. In my 18 packs I got 2 Karns so I'm happy with that. Then everyone wanted to trade for our older and newer rares. I must've traded half my binder (including all my pain lands) and got some sweet cards. Then I basically redid a lot of my decks with the new cards I got. We must've been trading for a couple of hours but didn't actually play anyone. We decided to go to his grandpa's house to work on cards. My friend built his Myr deck he's been waiting for (it's actually pretty nasty, between 4 Myr Turbines, 4 Myr Reservoirs, 4 Myr Superions, 2 Myr Battlesphere, and other stuff), I built some shitty red/white deck out of the cards I got from the box (only exception but an Argus Kos I got in a trade), and then I essentially rebuilt my Vampires and Ramp deck (added a third Emrakul to my ramp deck as well as 3 Overgrown Battlements and finished/got playsets for Mul-Daya Channelers/Oracles). We played each other until 3 in the morning and fell asleep.
I woke up at 7:30 the next morning but my friend is a dead-heavy sleeper. So I'm stuck watching whatever was on Cartoon Network (the channel we left on) until my friend finally woke up at 11:30. Some side notes:
- Bakugan is a retarded show. It's so badly done. Typically poorly animated Pokemon-type show.
- Beyblade is the most boring shit I've ever seen. It's just guys screaming and tops smacking each other. How did this ever get popular?
- Generator Rex has surprisingly decent animation.
- Hot Wheels Battleforce 5 is a joke.
- Star Wars: The Clone Wars isn't that bad.
After he woke up we ate breakfast, played some cards, and went to the pre-release.
We got there and first off, we both felt gross. We didn't shower, brush our teeth, or even change our clothes. Plus we reeked of cigarettes because his grandpa's a smoker. We also didn't quite feel like doing the pre-release event so I bought 6 Worldwake packs (no Jace's, sorry) and left.
We stayed at his grandpa's house until about 5pm. We just played more cards, watched some of those bad "rough justice" movies on AMC (Death Wish II and III), then watched Johnny Dangerous (funny movie) and left. My friend's mom drove us home.
On the way home we stopped by the largest mall in New Jersey and looked around. There was a really cool AMC 24 eat-in theater but we decided to save that for another day. It's a really cool mall if you're ever in the Branchburg area.
Then I got home, showered, and slept. And now I'm here, typing this blog.
