i just tried latest version of minecraft with 1gb. even with a lot of entities it doesn't seem to be a problem.

play for longer than 12 seconds and you'll start getting punted with constant lag spikes

i just did and proved my point, i kept getting huge lag spikes every 5-10 seconds as the ram kept pinning itself to 100% usage

also keep in mind you've got a faster cpu, so java can do it's garbage collection without causing too many lag spikes,this guy's got an "amd radeon 4.0 cpu" and is probably not fast enough to do GC without hitching up

Check the health of your hard drives with tools like CrystalDiskInfo, I've had hard crashes happen because of dying hard drive, not even the C drive. Check to see if your computer temperatures are fine, overheating can cause slowdown and crashing.
