On several fora it turns up that more and more people are having serious problems while they were using 1.9g firmware. Now what is true about this?

See: http://wiikey19g.wordpress.com/

Since the 1.9g BETA hotfix was primarily ment for playing SMG - and we can patch SMG ourselves now to play it on 1.9b firmware - the 1.9g firmware isn't needed anymore.

Should we go back to 1.9b which was 'safe'? Just to be sure?

A few minutes ago I downgraded to 1.9b again with my 1.9b update disk. Works fine now. All games work fine, also my ntsc to pal patched games... only SMG doesn't work anymore: 001 error. Good. Just have to patch that one myself and burn it again so it will work on 1.9b.

All WiiKey disks and updates:

never had any problems at all, so don't know why you should downgrade

Not sure what is 'best' but I have personally gone back to 1.9b since i found out 1.9g locked the drive at 3x reed speed

uhm, is it true that it is locked @ 3x read speed?
isn't that changed by the config disc (which i've done)
so ... you say that 1.9G ONLY reads @ 3x, even tho that you've changed the option?

That's the whole point... 1.9g was a beta hotfix... working fine... no problems at all...
However... a lot of people did get problems because of it.

So I think downgraded to 1.9b again.

Good question. I didn't know this and I NEVER used a config disk before... so how do I know at what speed I'm reading right now anyway?

QUOTE(Tha-Rik @ Mar 13 2008, 02:44 PM) How do i downgrade the wiikey firmware?
If you now have 1.9g you can just flash back to 1.9b by using the 1.9b update disk from Wiikey, that was their last official release.

So far as I know, only SMG won't work anymore if that's what you used the 1.9g for... you can patch SMG so it works on 1.9b again.

That was tested and didn't show any difference. Offtopic however.

oops missed that, hope it's no huge issue, seems like lots of the problems have to do with wiikey clones or dvd+rs or +rw, I don't know maybe they used ghetto solder or perhaps the spirit of Gunpei Yokoi is reaping havoc on your tainted system

Don't get me wrong...

I don't know how big the issue really is... all I'm saying we must not forget this was just a beta hotfix and the 1.9b release was official. So since we don't really need 1.9g anymore... we might as well go back to 1.9b again, just to be sure.

Hmmmm. I think my WiiKey clone with 1.9g is close to becoming self-aware like good old Skynet. Dangar! Dangar!

The thread is dead on psx-scene since they lost everything. Don't try and revive it here.
