2. I have Mocha and Haxchi but not CBHC - do I need CBHC as well as Mocha and haxchi to install and run VC?
2. Haxchi v2.5u2 allows users to launch it's own built-in CFW by holding B or setting config.txt in SDCard://haxchi/config.txt to:

If you're booting CBHC then another CFW which takes even more to load and has chance to freeze, then you're defeating whole purpose of ColdBootHaxChi. CBHC has it's own built-in CFW called "CBHC CFW", you can enter it by setting Autoboot to sysmenu and launching sysmenu.
