I've had artifacts like this for years, it's not really a bother since they rarely pop up. It's most prominent in New Super Mario Bros when I start the game, before I choose saved game. I rarely see it on stages. I have original game discs and it was also like this before I installed Homebrew.

I've searched around from time to time but never found a solution, maybe there isn't any? I see some say it's a result of overheating and a bug that was patched. This Wii is really old so it could be something there, some say it's the GPU failing, but I don't think it is since it's been like this for several years and it's only rarely noticeable.

Anyone that have had the same issue and managed to fix it?

MattKC has a video about this kind of problem, but it's not the same.
TLDR is, a capacitor in the console is going bad and needs replacement.

My Wii has been turned on since 2008 near daily and is working fine (knock on wood) but it might be possible that your console might be showing it's age...
Either way, check the video.

Sadly I can't solder. I guess I just have to live with it, it for sure is stable, it's been like this for maybe ten years, not getting worse.

I'll see if I can find the the MattKC-video.
