i know many of you are hyped to see the switch using cartridges, but support for 3ds games? not gonna happen. its not a matter of software, but rather hardware.
what i mean is, the switch looks more like a souped up tablet in landscape mode. the system may or may not have a touch screen, but that isnt the problem. the problem is, the 3ds has 2 screens, and both wouldnt be able to fit correctly on a horizontal tablet, and all the buttons can do is come off the sides, making it much too awkward to play in portrait mode. due to most ds games in general needing the use of a touchscreen and a split screen, the switch lacks the hardware to actually be able to play them.
even if it does have a touch screen, you still wouldnt be able to play it on your tv screen (ik thats what you all are thinking lml)
because to connect it to a tv, it has to be plugged in to its charger/stand, which blocks the switch screen. plus, ds/dsi/3ds games will look completley horrible without some decent upscaling.
so thats the main reason why the switch wont be able to play (3)ds games. maybe theyll make you buy an extra little accessory to add support, cause lets face it, nintendo makes most of its money selling you the same thing like 4 times. but all in all, its not gonna happen, at least on a stock switch
ps: im open for debate if you have any reason as to why it could possibly support ds games
