Hacking What's the best way to install Wiiware/VC games' wads and launch them through USB Loader GX?

@Clutz450,

Thank for that - it seems simple. How would I run emuNAND from my USB drive? Also, is it possible using Neek to exit back to USB Loader GX?
The easiest way for me was to have USB Loader GX extract my NAND to emunand on my USB drive. Then using USB Loader GX WAD manager I installed all my WADs to the newly created emunand. Then follow the guide I made to get neek setup. I also explained in that post how to return to USB Loader GX after leaving neek. Basically the only way to do that would be to set up PriiLoader to boot straight into USB Loader GX. But then whenever you start up your Wii it will always start USB Loader GX and not the Wii System Menu. Hope this helps.

I have dumped the nand and installed a snes wad but i cany start it since it boots to hbc instead

Where is your emunand? USB or SD? How are you trying to load the game? Through USB Loader GX? And if so, what revision of USB Loader GX are you using? And finally, follow the link below to a guide on how to post a syscheck of your Wii and post the results here so I can see what CIOSes you have installed.

I installed Neek, and while some games work with it, others still go to a black screen no matter what, like Alien Crush Returns...

P. S.

I have installed d2x cIOS.

d2x v10-beta53 has issues with NAND emulation. v10-beta52's emuNAND is fine but if you're trying to run titles under NEEK they won't be using the IOSes installed on your real NAND.

Your IOS 249 and 250 are both base 80. They should be base 56 and 57. I'm willing to bet that's your issue. Rerun the d2x installer and make sure you choose base 56 for IOS 249 and base 57 for IOS 250. Let me know if you need any help with doing that.

I have these 2 files on the root of my SD:

Ios57-64-v5918.wad (IOS 250)
Ios56-64-v5661.wad (iOS 249)

I made these changes in d2x installer:

Dx2 version v10 beta53
Dios base: 56
Dios slot: 249
Dios revision: 65535

Dx2 version v10 beta52
Cios base:57
Cios slot: 250
Cios revision: 65535

Still no luck...Alien Crush, And Yet it Moves, and others (except the Konami Rebirth titles) reboots back to USB Loader. NAND Emulation is set to Global.

And what is your global settings set to? If you set your global settings to use neek, then change it to emunand. Since you only need neek for a handful of games it's easier to just select the neek setting on a per game basis.

Also, do another syscheck and post it since you just changed your IOSes.

I noticed you installed beta53-alt in 249 and beta52 in 250. Beta52 has better compatibility with emunand. So you can try changing the IOS used for the games you are having trouble with to 250 (by default it uuses 249) and see if that works. If that still doesn't work then it's possible the wad you used to install your game corrupt and you should try deleting and reinstalling that wad from a different source.

I am away visiting family for the weekend but if you can't get it working and don't mind waiting I can try loading up those games on my Wii and see if I am getting the same issues you are when I get home.

NAND Chan. Emulation is set to Full. I set the IOS on Alien Crush to 250, but still a black screen.

I got the WADs from NUSdownloader.

Do WADs downloaded with NUSdownloader actually work like that? Like have other games you used that did work came from the same source? I never used NUSdownloader but I thought I remembered something about even though you can download the WADs they won't work. I could be wrong though.

But anyway, that's about all the help I can give you based off of memory. You'll have to wait until I get back home and have my Wii in front of me. Hopefully in the meantime someone else will be able to help you with your problem. Best of luck to you.

NUSDownloader can't make valid WADs for a title unless you already have the ticket for the title and certificates from your console.

We cannot help you with where to find those WADs and it is against the rules to ask. So just be careful with that. Just use Google and hopefully you will be able to find something.

instead of making a new thread, i figure i'd ask here since its kind of related to the topic.

aside from game compatibility, are there any drawbacks to playing VC/WiiWare through cIOS emunand vs real nand? Mainly i'm talking about audio/video glitches, slowdown etc. And would playing off an HDD vs a SD card offer any benefits?
