What do you use for making GIF?

I'm curious about one that can make small file size GIF files but still look good, and also from videos files if I ever want to, or compress existing ones. So I'm just curious about the talented video/image content/creators editors out there. Please list if is paid or free.

I just use an online tool, something like "mp4 to gif" or "(moving image format)" to "gif". I think handbrake can also make things gif. Tons of free stuff, formatfactory is really good. I used that for mp4s a long time ago. Really nice.

The tools already bundled in the OS of my phone.

You can use LiceCap to capture GIFs easily, with the press of a button. You can even set the frame rate.

I don't do much graphic editing but I like to use ShareX which is a free open source project for Windows that can create gifs from screen capture. It also has many other features to capture and share but I'm not sure if it's GIF related.
