Hello guys,

My 3ds has an 11.0.33 firm and I hardmod it to downgrade it. I could get the nand, patched it (to have 10.4 inside it) and retransfring it into the nand. Everything seemed to working fine until I tried to read my sdcard. The console respond me "The SD Card could not be accessed ..."

When I remove the sdcard it tells me "sdcard removed". I tried to update the 3ds to 11.1 because I was thinking I uploaded a corrupted nand and using new firmware may solve the problem but no result unfortunately. I also tried to get another working sdcard reader and put it on the faulty 3ds no result as well.

I did well my hardmod, but did I brick it somehow ? What do you suggest to do ? any clue to test if the problem comes from the motherboard ? Any clue to help me out ?

Thanks in advance.

Are you using an microSD Adapter?

Hmm... weird... my o3DS worked with a 32 GB Samsung Evo+...... I guess it is fried

I get another sd card reader from a working 3ds. If the faulty one was fried that means that the new one will work. Doesn't it ?

Yea.... you could try to see if the cards work in the working one. If they do maybe you can unsolder the broken one, unsolder the working one from the other 3ds and after that resolder-it to the 3ds with the hardmod

Yeah sure all of the cards tested on the faulty one are working fine on the other one. For info my two 3ds are regular not XL. The sdcard is easy to remove there no solding manipulation to do.

Im saying unsolder the whole reader from the working 3ds and solder it to the one with the broken reader

May be I didn't explaining it well. The sd card reader in regular 3ds is on the top of a piece of metal that hide the nand. To remove the sdcard there is two things to do:
1- remove the nap
2- force a little bit the reader from the piece of metal (beacause is stuck with glue)

When you do that no reader are available any more (see the image). I replaced it with the working one and that's not working.

The motherboard could be fried at some place. The whole system is working except the sdcard so maybe there is a solution to that. My question was what should be tested on the mother if eventually there is/are a short circuit(s) ? I Need you electronic specialist please !!!

I think you may have damaged the reader and/or the motherboard by assuming the problem was hardware and opening the system to fix it.

I think I've had this problem while I was installing a9lh on my new 3DS. The system suddenly decided it didn't like the microSD and started throwing errors at me. Everything else read it just fine; the 3DS was the only device having problems with it. The system would still boot (an a9lh system with no SD doesn't boot), and my theme and apps still showed up on the Home Menu - until I tried to boot any software. The system would then throw an "SD Card could not be accessed" error at me, and reboot to Home Menu, without my theme or the icons for anything I'd installed.

The solution that worked for me was to connect the microSD to my PC, back up the contents, and then format. Once the format completed, I simply restored my backup, and viola, everything worked fine.
