FAT32. WBFS is obsolete, and NTFS doesn't work with DIOS MIOS. If you might ever decide to run GC backups, then format it with FAT32 and 32KB/64KB cluster size now so you won't have to reformat it later on.
Other than that there is nothing wrong with using NTFS, that's what I'm using myself.

NTFS doesn't work with Dios Mios, and while FAT32 does have the 4 GB limitation, games are split as a result. WBFS is very unstable, prone to fragmentation and cannot be recovered in Windows or Linux. FAT32 is your best bet and I've never had any issues ripping Wii games to it :P

On the contrary, it's almost never fragmented, because it's using very big virtual cluster size.
And there is a tool to recover it on windows and linux, it's wwt/wit tools.
(if you meant recover corrupted games, then it doesn't matter if it's WBFS/Windows/linux/FAT32/NTFS/ext, once it's corrupted you can't recover the data)

But like everyone said, it's better to use FAT32 or NTFS instead.
If you use FAT32, format it to 32k cluster size, not 64k!

I stand corrected. Nevertheless, most homebrew apps don't like WBFS but NTFS or FAT32 instead ;) www/wit can be intimidating to those who aren't used to CLI, but I'm sure there are guides tha tell what command is what.

Why use a hdd instead of a usb stick? A 64GB stick holds all the Wii/GC games I own with plenty of space left over for ScummVM/emulators... a hdd seems like overkill to me. Plus USB sticks generally come preformatted to FAT32 and are good to go.

What's weird is that they both have about the same speed in bandwidth but the Comcast one feels laggy like click something and it takes a second to load, the Eero one is just instant lol
