Hacking USB Loader GX: Initialising USB drive

Hey guys,

I followed the definitive guide on here to hack and install USB Loader GX (among other things) and I had initial luck with ustealth and getting everything to load and look nice. I had played a few games and turned it off (I wanted to start on some other emulation). Next time I loaded it up it got stuck on Initialising drive and never passed that point (I had to remove power from the Wii U).

Setup:
1TB My Passport WD drive connected with Y cable and formatted with BootIce as per guide.

What I have tried.
- Unstealthing the drive
- Stealthing the drive with a previous version of Ustealth
- Updating USB Loader GX to latest.

Workaround:
If I load nintedont then immediately loading USB Loader GX it seems to work. So I assume it might be the hard drive going to sleep at some stage (either time based or during the change from Wii U to vWii).

Is there a fix for this?

I have just been using the workaround above to get me through, does anyone know whether there is a version of USB Loader GX that handles the sleep of USB drive better or at least uses something similar to what nintendont does to initialise the drive (I am guessing it wakes it up).
