Okay,
Here's my configuration:
1. Slim ps3 on Rebug 4.46. Running MM 4.46, and installed Rebug toolbox (enabled QA flag)

I want to update my hard drive. After doing some research/googling, it seems the standard backup/restore process can work (staying on same 4.46 Rebug). However, there're also many horror stories about people running into issues and ending with semi-bricks/unusable consoles after installing the new drive.

a) Has anybody here attempted a drive switch recently?
b) Would removing the toolbox or disabling the QA flag be important?

Simply backup everything you have on the drive. Download Rebug 4.46 CFW and prepare it on a USB flash drive. Swap the drive and PS3 will ask you to reinstall firmware.

Finally restore the contents back.

Keep in mind that PS3 can only accepts 2.5 inch SATA HDD with height less than 9 mm.

Thanks. I've done plenty of swaps with my original fat and slim models (on OFW). Will give this a try (hard drive should be here in a few days).

*EDIT* Thank you again. Everything worked like a regular 'backup/restore' process as it would on typical OFW. Even all my existing PSN content was preserved.
