Hacking Transferring Wood R4 saves to actual cartridges

I started playing Ghost Trick on my M3 DS Simply with the newest Wood R4, and enjoyed it so much I bought it. I'm having trouble now transferring the save to the actual cartridge; I've tried the NDS wifi backup tool, but when I transfer it to the cartridge I wind up with a new game. Is there any particular format I should convert a Wood R4 save to before trying to transfer it to a cartridge?
