"Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2" finally coming to Steam

header.jpg

After more than 3 years since the initial release of the HD remake for Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 & 2 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One all the way back in 2020, the popular titles will now see a proper release on PC through Steam.

The title got a webpage on Steam for an upcoming release, with the Digital Deluxe Edition available for it as well. However, there is no set date for when the title will release on the service, as it only has a "Coming Soon" label, though players interested in it can already wishlist the title for when the date is revealed. The only other re-release the title got was back in 2021, when it was released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch.

Just too little too late for me. I have it on Epic and would have preferred to own it on Steam when it came out...
I hate EGS and it's the only purchase I have on it. Not willing to buy the game again, though.
I held out until now. However, I probably won't buy it on Steam without a considerable discount. It's not that I don't like Tony Hawk games. I played a lot of THPS4 and American Wasteland back in the Gamecube days. Yet, I never really got into 1 and 2, especially not enough to give in to Epic.

My intuition says it'll come out on Christmas, but I believe they'll drop it sooner.
Heck, it could even be shadow dropped.
But the real question is: Is it still gonna be online-only?

It's the only game I bought on there as it was my only way to experience the game. I claim the freebies but very rarely touch those either. They're remakes of what is probably my favorite game series of all time. With a considerable discount; say $5 on sale, I'll probably pick up a Steam copy just to not have to deal with Epic anymore. I don't want to pay full price again and basically reward them with another sale for what I consider to be a terrible practice (timed store exclusivity or whatever it was causing them to not release on Steam).

THPS 1 and 2 were a big part of my childhood, since I got a PlayStation around the time THPS came out and was already into skateboarding stuff to some degree by then.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
