Homebrew The Wii U Homebrew Request Thread

Not possible. When you open a Wii game, the console reboots into its vWii mode, in which all traces of Wii U-only software are inaccessible. The Wii U's HOME menu is not available because it is not a part of the vWii OS.

Screenshots in vWii are a good idea though.

unless it possible to mod vwii boot so IT could do that, course then again, bricks, but then again somebody managed to figure out how to put in themes for vwii, safely no bricks. SO...... it could be possible, but it may be unlikely, what I mean by the whole themes is the fact somebody managed to modfi the wii menu launcher, which gave him themes, if Im reading between the lines correctly.

Hi. if anyone is interested in porting desmume to wii u that would be cool.
the wii u is a hd console so that would make it possible to render games in hi-res
seriously the ds vc is unplayabe. so blurry and pixelated

i think there is a wii version right?

there is a wii version but it sucks and it's really slow and you have to use the wii remote as a stylus

There should be a text file inside the VC injection format (For loadiine) that allows you to change some of the display functions.

One thing you can do right now is inject your own ROMs into Virtual Console titles. This is especially easy for DS titles which are simply a zip file containing the ROM you want to run. Getting Final Fantasy IV up and running was a doddle, and you can even force a higher internal resolution which is not an option Nintendo normally give us access to. Check out the difference in these shots!

So how do I do that DS thing?

Once you haved dumped one of your existing DS VC titles using DDD, you will find it contains a file called rom.zip in the folder \vol\content\xxxx. You can simple replace the file inside this with a DS ROM of your choice and it will function, but you must ensure you keep the name the same. WUP-N-DAAP.nds was the one in the Brain Training I dumped, so I renamed FFIV to that and copied that in there in its place.

Also in this folder is a file called configuration_cafe.json. In there you will have, right near the end, "RenderScale": 1 and changing that 1 to a 2 is all you need to do to enable 2x internal rendering.

When you are done, create a folder in the /wiiu/games directory on your SD card with the format "Name of Game [xxxx01]". Make up anythingfor the four xes, but 01 must be present. So my FFIV is "/wiiu/games/Final Fantasy IV [DMSK01]"

Of course is just a suggestion, if you actually play around with the settings, you may get better or preferred results.

hey guys i just got a great idea for some brew
i just got a couple echo dots and have been integrating them with home automation IFTTT some HUE lights and getting excited about adding more lights and RGB strips to my system

so when researching my home automation projects and lighting and voice controlling my home entertainment system i came across
a nice little program addon for kodi that works with a philips HUE bridge to add ambilight to your TV and it gave me an idea

(if you don't know what ambilight is the kodi addon sends commands to the hue bridge and changes the color of a hue light strip mounted behind your TV to match the prominent color on the screen)

so i was thinking what if this addon could be ported to a wii u homebrew , or if homebrew is not possible then maybe we could find a way to get video out from the wii u to run through kodi in real time with no delay , then we could have ambilight while playing our favorite games
the old gen 1 HUE RGB strips are cheap now so are gen 1 bridges , and there are cheap 3rd party RGB strip controllers that work directly with the HUE bridge that you can just hook up some cheap chinese RGB strip too also
probably cost you like $60 to do with no bridge cheaper if you already have a bridge

would be sweet to play BOTW with ambilight

did you even read the post i never said anything about running kodi on the wii u

i said a homebrew that will work with a phillips hue hub and a behind the TV mounted friends of hue RGB LED strip
to send ambilight data to the HUE from the wii u so we can have ambilight when playing games on the wii u

i said there is an addon for kodi that does this and maybe the addon could be ported or it could be built from the ground up for the wii u
or failing that a method to get video from the wii u to play through kodi on another device
like a fire TV

Prolly has been already made and i'm just too dumb to find it (trust me, i searched, didn't find anything yet though.)
But, is there a app yet that can turn off the wii u gamepads screen?

Playing a lot on tv, so it would be nice to have the screen deactivated.

I would like to request a "multi-tasking" thing where you can have the gamepad and the tv as seperate things like a dual-monitor setup.

I would like a Predator game "Kill Team" it takes place in the Jungle of the first movie, your team is sent to hunt the predator, using current tech drones and a trained team. Set traps use strategy to hunt and trap or kill the predator.
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Ill stick with my Battlefield. Yea a predator hunting game like that would be cool. Esp if you can be Arnold and say "Get to da choppa"

I went today and looked at a motorcycle someone was selling. I get there and the battery on it was dead, so the guy grabbed a battery charger and hooked it up. He plugged it into the wall, and the motorcycle sparked and started smoking. Come to find out the bike uses a 6 volt battery and the guy had the charger set to 12v. I said sorry to the dude and walked away. I felt bad for him tho.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Sounds like it would be an exciting ride....

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
He ruined it basically. Sad cause it was a decent old bike. It would take more money to rewire the bike than it was worth tho.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
