Where are you guys getting firmware updates for 9.0 and Up???? I don't find anything pass 8.1.0-19x on the dstwo site.

cards are not blocked since 7.x, it doesn't require firmware update for 9 or up
you just use the one for 7.x (or 8.x) the card is only updated to bypass the blocks, there are no been card blocks ever since.

Don't only the ds two and r4i work after 7.x? Meaning without flashcarttimewarporwhatever.jpeg I like how Nintendo said f*** it after gateway was chugging along

there are dozens of r4i cards. only a few of them work, and i think there is one ace card that still works...
however most of the cards had beeen banned, but if it works on 7.x firmware it will work even on a N3ds

I've got a New 3DS running 9.8, and my DSTWO has just been shipped. Are the instructions in the first post of this thread still appropriate for this model and firmware version?

Thanks for the reply mashers. Might have to take the plunge and pay over the odds. Hopefully yours will ship hassle free, but let me know if you get any problems.

Hey, thanks for the guide. I'm getting the 'NO FIND SYSTEM FILES' error though. I formatted using the tool mentioned in the guide, and put all the files in the right place (here's a pic). I get the error on a DS, DSi (never updated), and 3DS (most recent firmware). I also did some research of my own, and tried things like using EOS supposedly made for Chinese cards (mine shipped from China so it was worth a shot). I also tried a few things with the firmware files at the top of the guide. Nothing has worked. Any thoughts?

Did anyone manage to get the latest firmware '20150703' to work? I downloaded the latest EOS 1.12, the upgrade file, and transferred the files to the root of my SD card. Prior to that, I upgraded my firmware to version 1.25. When I tried to select the .nds file through DS_GAME, the same "No need to update appeared". Did I miss any steps?

P.S. For that matter, after copying the EOS 1.12 files to the SD card, the help menu still showed the EOS version as '1.11'. Is that supposed to be the case?

"No need to update" appears to me too. Is that OK?

Sometimes, my system will freeze when I open the menu in some of my DSTwo Emulators (NDSGBA, CATSFC, etc). I am not sure what is causing it... Anyone have this happen to them also and or know a fix? I have tried 2 different mSD cards. Thoughts/help Greatly appreciated :)

P.S. Am on v1.25 Firmware and SC DSTwo Card version 1 I think. Also a side question, where can I get the latest usercheat.dat?

They haslve dedicated on board chips that aren't tweaked like x64/x32 afaik

but its a custom os for both of them

    designed for only specific hardware

so you have to learn to emulate that specific hardware which isn't as easy as you'd think

It's a locked down Linux distro basically

I think the only custom hardware is to do with the SSD and a security chip
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Probably combined in one chip

They place married security chips onto boards iirc

Didn't see much need for a console, all the advantages have kind of disappeared
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
the ps3 used to support installing linux because the cpu was so powerful
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Then the games are $70 and they want to reboot and refresh the same game every year
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
The ps3 was always Linux they just found a way to make it open source

I'm avoiding buying from the big 3 at all atm

At one point PC game pads where poorly supported, loading a game had setup, it was complicated. Now it's almost as easy as a console.

considering the steamdeck can emulate the switch (yikes) theres almost 0 reason to buy the switch apart from playing online and using cartridges

Xinput and 360 dongles were a driver nightmare
