I support the PSP due to the PS1 emulation. I love that feature

Also its a great, portable, emulation powerhouse. Best around for a decent price at the moment (Open Pandora is too expensive in my opinion)

There are plenty of games worth playing. It can handle much more things than a DS (Internet Browsing, File Transfer, Music Player, Video Player). I know of people who just use their PSP as a portable media. I don't know of anyone who uses a DS as a portable media though... (NOT HATIN' DS LOL)

I disagree with it because it the PSP would have to be worse than most or all of the following:
Game Gear
N-Gage
Game and Watch
WonderSwan (+Color)
Tapwave Zodiac
Game.com
Nomad
Leapster
Gizmondo
V-Smile Pocket
Mega Duck
Gamate
Atari Lynx
PocketStation
Neo Geo Pocket
Adventurevision
TurboExpress

The PSP has plenty of great games of many different genres. In addition, it has decent media capabilities (although it has been outclassed since it came out in 2005). Calling it one of the worst portables ever created would show that the person is either very ignorant of the history of portable gaming systems and the PSP, or that they have an unreasonable dislike toward the hardware.

I support the PSP. Excellent portable emulation system, to say the least; and homebrew is the main reason I bought one, actually. I came for the homebrew, the occasional decent game (Persona 3 Portable, Badass Rumble and Mana Khemia to name a few) is a nice bonus, though.

You're confusing poor commercial performance with a portable games system being shit. While I'll admit the GG and Nomad ate batteries like they were going out of fashion, they're both great systems. The same could be said with most of the systems I've left in the list above - they're great systems with some great games; they just weren't proper competition for the Game Boy's popularity. Obvious exception being the Game and Watch, which only really had competition from Tiger Electronics' handheld LCD shovelware; and was pretty much discontinued (excluding a few games with -really- limited circulation) when Nintendo made the Game Boy.

Don't get me wrong, the one's I've left out are pretty shit, but the ones I've picked out are all great systems with great games, in my opinion.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
