The Humble Bundle has certainly grown a lot, hasn't it? Beginning life as a small collection of indie titles, its bundles now make millions of dollars and attract the likes of EA and Activision. They've even expanded their operation, simultaneously two bundles at once.

Well, it looks like it's full speed ahead for the Humble train, and this train's got no brakes. Todaythey've opened The Humble Store.

That's right, now they've got a store most humble - and it ain't no fumble.

So go ahead, buy something. You know you want to. And hey, it's for charity. You wouldn't say "No" to a charity, now would you?

Some nice games, many of which I was actually hoping would come onto bundles one day.
Sadly the ones I do not already have and would like enough to go get my wallet (I can never seem to remember the security code even if I can remember every other number on there) are steam only.

I love these places for game deals, i also like the idea of some of the profits going to charity.

With new games added daily i know i'll be a regular visitor, Steam getting some real competition now?

If I am not mistaking, you can get steam keys from these sales. Since I doubt they are generating their own steam keys then there must be some collaboration with steam with these sales. While I understand that the humble bundle store may sell same games as steam but a cheaper price, I from the previous sentence's fact, I don't think they are in competition.

I bought the swapper about a month ago. Those who say that there aren't original games being made nowadays should really try it out. I've honestly played anything like it. It's a platformer in which you have a clone gun that lets you create up to five clones that copy your every movement. You need to collect orbs by cloning them in correct positions and 'swapping' your own character correctly. Looks beautiful, interesting storyline and (as said) very original gameplay.

If valve saw them as threath then they would simply deny steam keys being given out. Of course valve gets some money for every key so they can keep their service free excluding games. Actually most indie games do steam trading cards these days so valve and devs get a little more from those as well!
If you think about it steam is platform and store so some people may not even search for other places to get games when they can easily buy it from the service they are using to play it later.

I won't lie. I was more than half expecting them to be selling t-shirts and hoodies when I saw the title of this thread.

EDIT: First Monthly and Weekly sales, now daily. I won't be surprised, if key chains and such are next.

Hope a lot of people buy Blade Symphony. It's quite fun but it has a real lack of players since it's only on early access.

Humble Bundle has been doing great. Nice to see they are expanding their services. Shame Guild Wars 2 is only in NA. Wanted to try it for a while now, enjoyed Guild Wars 1 quite alot. Any way to still but the game in EU? Some people are using proxies but that would mean they would get 'keys' for the NA servers right?

With Steam sales Deals every goddamn day now, this is just icing on the cake. Blood Dragon for $5? Yes please.
Guild wars 2? Blood dragon? Okay...there are certainly differences in region. Here's what's on sale 'today' in Europe (starting since about 3 hourse ago since this post):

Amnesia: a machine for pigs
shadow warrior (the remake)
systom shock 2
dungeion defenders & DLC
super hexagon
pixel junk monsters ultimate
legend of grimrock
spacebase of 9
Monaco
Euro truck simulator 2
prison architect
Batman arkham origins (though it has to be noted that this is still full price...so buying it basically allows you to donate a part of it to charity).

Aside from the latter, they have 25% to 75% discount.

Just out of curiosity...what's on sale in the US right now?

Pretty much everything there except Planetary Annihilation takes place of Euro Truck Simulator 2.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
