I followed the guide but it somehow corrupted my system. I followed the guide to the letter. twice. same results.


Anyway, I'm activating my ps vita again but the psp games won't show up on either the ps3 or ps vita. I don't know how to reactivate it now. I guess I shouldn't have jumped to this guide without knowing the repercussions. Thing is, I won't be able to get a ps3 soon.

The way you describe it, your method sounds simpler. Which makes me wonder if there is a reason for Voxel's more complex approach. Is there any substantial advantage/disadvantage between the two?

Sorry for the late reply. Voxel wants his method to be more 'accessible' for the fame I guess? (no real idea, he hasn't answered me on that.) In terms of functionality the difference is that my method allows you to add extra "accounts" on top. The hardest part is of course getting the act.dat, as it has to be generated from your Vita each time.

I thought that adding "friends'"accounts was the only way to enable the sharing method. Do you mean Voxel's account is limited to only one extra account?

Yes. Also this is not the only method, there's also http://gbatemp.net/threads/coldswap-run-fully-unencrypted-playable-games-without-owning-them.427511/ which requires having a backup and still having to activate the vita or load act.dat anyways. However this method could maybe work with your act.dat instead of the backup act.dat or direct activation via PS3, I didn't test as I'm not really interested in it.

Thank you for clarifying. One last thing: you said that Voxel's method still bears the limitation of needing the "friend's" memory card to be physically lent in order for the sharing to work. Is this true for your method and the cold-swapping method too?

It's true for my method too, mine and voxel are basically the same but with different approaches.
The coldswap however is a much different case, because in the coldswap case while you change system backups you don't actually change accounts. When I did the tutorial I didn't really know about act.dat, but thinking about it for a little bit now it might be possible to just restore your old act.dat from before the backup hacking and this way bypass the PS3, coldswap and activation entirely, giving birth to an entirely new and much easier method. I'll have to test it in the upcoming days.. feel free to test it too if you have the time.

If you don't have a ps3 I wouldn't suggest this method. Ibtroed it and was following closely but still I failed. I will have to try using the act.dat injection so I can bypass having a ps3 as I have a dump of it anyway.

I do have a PS3. What I meant is I don't have friends with a PS3 living nearby. Don't I need a second PS3 for the cold-swapping method?

As I understand it, you need another vita for the cold swap and not the ps3. The ps3 is needed to get the psp games to exploit on your vita and also to activate vita while it is on low firmware.

Though I wish vita had some similar account system to ps3 as in adding accounts with games but still playing from your account.

I activated my ps vita again through injecting my own act.dat.
Sigh, the hardships I had to go through with the ps3 before, I bypassed it. Finally!!!

I think I know how to make this work, for example getting another friend's psn account and downloading the game to my vita via ps3 and back up the necessary files. This would require system restoration though.
I will try to get another psn account but getting a ps3 is my sole problem.
