wait im confused. So i updated OFW bcs it was on 14.0 . It did not even cross my mind that support for 17.0 is not fully out.
I installed old sigpatches. i get error when launching atmosphere (the nosigchk), but then when i installed a game,it works and im able to play it? isnt sigpatches like a digital signature for games?

use atmosphère 1.6.1 (just released) and Hekate 6.0.7 to boot your system, then downgrade to firmware 16.1.0 using daybreak.

i cant find atmosphere 1.6.1 on releases (only 1.6.0) .
Also downgrading CFW will make OFW unusable right?
Also why would i downgrade if for me, i can perfectly install games and play them with the old sigpatches? im just asking ,educate me

you need to downgrade to Firmware 16.1.0 because there is no yes sigpatches for FW 17 and most of the sysmodules do not work on 17. so the better so far is been on FW 16.1.0
what are sysmodules?
oh ok

so regarding my last question, will i be able to use OFW 17.0 while i have CFW 16.1?

Impeeza, you can't downgrade sysnand because of burned efuses. Is this correct? I had thought that you could only downgrade emunand

never use Youtube as your information source, that videos ALWAYS are old and you can end on a brick.

a good guide is: https://rentry.org/SwitchHackingIsEasy

there you can get lot of information about update/downgrade firmware. and learn basic information.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
