Q: Can I increase the compatibility of the emulator with "magic"?

  • Err... not exactly magic but if you copy game_config.txt to the NDSGBA folder in the root of the microSD card it will fix games such as Pokemon, Kirby - Nightmare in Dreamland and Super Mario 4! allowing them to run without being patched. Credits go to the original compilers of the game_config.txt for gPSP.
In the root of the microSD? Shouldn't it be in the same directory as where the NDSGBA stuff is located?

Hey, I got the SCDS2 recently and have been looking to play some GBA.

I currently own an EZ Flash IV for my SP but would like to have all those games and saves on my 3DS too. I managed to copy the games across fine and they play well on NDSGBA (version 1.30 supplied from the SC website)
My problem, however, comes from my save files. The games were transferred to my EZ Flash using the EZ client so they were probably patched.
I copied all the saves from my EZ over to the same folder my roms are stored in on the SC (NDSGBA/gamepak) but when I loaded any game (from the menu I chose 'New' then picked my game) the game was started fresh like there was no save file at all.

Could anyone help me get my save files to work? Should I try to play them using VBA and save them first? Or am I simply putting the save files in the wrong folder?

saves are stored in the gamerts folder, and they must have the exact same name as the ROM that it goes with (minus the extension

and switch to v1.21 w/ game_config.txt

It would be great if somebody would add the feature to ZOOM.
The tiny little screen for the gba emulation is not very comfortable.

Not sure if people know this already.

When putting GBA Roms into NDSGBA\gamepak directory, you can leave them in there zipped state and they load up in the emulator like that.

Thought it`s a little tip that will save a bit of space on your SDcard.
All of my roms are already trimmed, does this emulator support trimmed roms?

Maybe not, but I have the sources to the iPlayer GBA emulator which the SCDS2 one was based one the only change being the remade gui (which could be copied from the snes emulator)
Well unless you have permission to release the sources or authorize a public build, you're just being a cocktease. :P

Doesn't matter if i have permission or not. Its based on gPSP which is GPL so legally they are required to open source them.
Mnh, any specific reason for not posting the source? As NDSSFC's shown (with three major contributors), there's likely people willing to work on it.

Welcome to GBATemp! A "Hacking" Community mostly filled with Trolls, Weeaboos, and Pirates who don't give a fuck about whether something is LEGAL or not.
On topic: Anyone know if the 3DSXL stretches the screen on this like it does DS games?

I was wondering why the source hasn't been released for the GBA emulator. Especially knowing its a port of an emulator that is under GPL. The emulator can be TONS better if they release the source, and they wouldn't have to worry about working on it because there are plenty of people who would love to work on it in the community. I'm thinking about sending the supercard team an email... What's their email? lol

Well the port isn't much if any different that the psp so porting it back over would probably be easier. As you'd need to redo the gui and such anyway as well as convert it to the supercard sdk.

Damn right! And I'd love to transplant BAG's, Shadaux's and my improvements from CATSFC into NDSGBA :yaynds:

I have a thread on the Supercard English forums about CATSFC, and the very first reply was someone asking about applying improvements to NDSGBA! Please, someone, get through to the Supercard Chinese forums, team, etc.

First you say it's easy as you just need to replace the GUI with the SNES one, next you say it's easier to port the psp version over.
So the hard part here is converting it to the supercard sdk, I'm guessing?

Any chance of a public repository with only the GBA emulator portion for the Supercard? The NDSGBA GUI would be copyrighted differently, but that's a minor annoyance since it's also in NDSSFC which is wholly under the GPL.

I'd create a fork and immediately call it TempGBA, after the results of the "naming subthread" for CATSFC...
