Today, Frozenbyte has announced that the co-operative blast'em up game Nine Parchments is coming to Nintendo Switch.

Frozenbyte CEO Lauri Hyvärinen commented on the announcement:

"We love Nintendo Switch! We've been ecstatic about the success of our roguelike action game Has-Been Heroes, and we love all the improvements made to the development environment, it's a great platform! Nine Parchments is a wonderful co-op game and feels like a perfect fit for the system. We can't wait to unleash the wizard mayhem later this year!"


About Nine Parchments

A group of drop-out wizard apprentices decide to skip their training for a quick path to the Nine Parchments.

As the wannabe wizards rapidly discover powerful new spells and ignore all safety aspects, it's natural that their hasty progress results in lots of unwanted deaths...

Looks fun, reminds me a bit of how Gauntlet on PSX and PS2 played. Those games were great fun, especially in multiplayer.

I miss games like these, however I am going to have to wait and see as we also got a little glut of them during the PS360 and much like sidescrolling beat em ups they all were less than stellar... and that is before I consider Sacred 3 and Dungeon Siege III. That said Frozenbyte have earned the benefit of the doubt from me for the time being, only just as that Has Been Heroes thing seemed to have some curious design decisions and while Trine was fun it is not quite the same thing.

Bonus though is hopefully nobody has to argue about character class.

I guess that no-one said that yet, since the only thing making it look like Magicka is the perspective. The art style seems rather different to me. And I guess this game won't feature the iconic spell mixing gameplay that Magicka is known for.

...although, after reading the title of the thread I was momentarily dissapointed that it wasn't a remake/sequel to Spellcaster on the Sega Master System.

No dodge-roll, and I can barely even see those icicles hitting the green guy at 0:38. Granted that last one might be unrepresentative of how it'll look on the Switch and be due to how I'm viewing the video, but even still, it looks basic; like it's trying hard to cover boring gameplay with flashy neon particle effects. I guess I'll just have to keep waiting a little longer for a reason to pick my Switch up again.

I dont remember if it came out or not i waa looking forward to it then the vita kinda die off and never look for it.

But this does look pretty cool. I hope it can be play single player tho

At a quick glance and not paying attention, the video thumbnail reminded me of Champions of Norrath for PS2. Fuck, I miss playing that game with old buddies. This game seems pretty interesting though.
