I can attest to Googie2149's claims.
I found his website around 1-2 days ago and I wanted to call him out on it with a reddit thread, but then I'm not that petty.
Also, a reminder for you all, he has a second account.

This is awesome!

Could you add support for pasting URLs to .SMDH files? Granted, this is a pretty weird use case, but if someone has a .SMDH on GitHub or something it would be nice to just be able to grab it from there without needing to download it locally first.
That won't be possible, sadly :-(
Due to security reasons, browsers cannot access files from other domains (unless the web server is ready to do that, which is not GitHub's case).

@marc_max Ah, that's true. I forgot Cross Domain Access Control policies--I don't end up dealing with it very often. I had to do all kinds of custom stuff to get that working on a project of mine.

Guys, i made a offline version because if you just download it with your browser you can get some issues.

    designed for only specific hardware

so you have to learn to emulate that specific hardware which isn't as easy as you'd think

It's a locked down Linux distro basically
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think the only custom hardware is to do with the SSD and a security chip
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Probably combined in one chip

  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
the ps3 used to support installing linux because the cpu was so powerful
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Then the games are $70 and they want to reboot and refresh the same game every year
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
The ps3 was always Linux they just found a way to make it open source

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
At one point PC game pads where poorly supported, loading a game had setup, it was complicated. Now it's almost as easy as a console.
