If you have the storage space to do it, and feel like spending several hours (depending on how many games you have) you could. There is always that iso site and ciangel/freeshop though... If you are afraid of losing games though, just keep backups of your save files every once in a while

I once lost my pocket of 3DS games for a full year! I misplaced it like I usually did, so I thought "no worries, I have plenty to play digitally on my 3DS" (as I've downloaded a couple full retail games from the eShop). Then when I wanted to go back and play some old games, I searched everywhere and I couldn't find it! And then we moved! Seeing as I had lost it for so long, seeing as we had moved, with all these factors, I abandoned all hope of finding it (my precious Pokemon X!), until one day... I found it in a random backpack in the garage! Man, you don't know how happy I was then!

I had lost it once before, too, under the seat in my car. That was a whole month right there xD

I think I might do what you're planning on doing and back up my games in case I go full dumbass again, haha :ha:

Honestly I would just use ciangel/freeshop to install your cias, it'll take less time and you'll have legit tickets installed on your 3ds.

Much cleaner

That kinda depends on their situation. If their internet is garbage, then it would be much more efficient to dump every cart with decrypt9 and convert with 3dsconv. Also, grats on your 666th post :^)

Using 3DseStuff to download CIA versions of the retail games I have...found them all apart from Cubic Ninja (X, OR, Bravely Default, Bravely Second, Birthright)

If you don't want the fear of losing all your games and saves, you should dump them if you have the space to on your sd card. If you don't that's fine too.
Some people prefer the feel of actually inserting the cartridge rather than just tapping on an icon anytime you want to play a game. I would just back up your games/saves onto your computer or external hard drive if you have one though just in case.

I dumped all of mine, though the primary reason was to not need to carry/swap my cartridges around and leave them safely in their boxes.

@SylverReZ, I dislike the kind of drm where you have to play single player games online all the time bc of some verification bs

@Xdqwerty, Don't use games that have Easy Anti-Cheat as its been exploited many times.

@SylverReZ, I also heard one of the Prince of Persia games was so unfinished that it required the "24/7 online" drm so a puzzle could be done and the game could be finished. And that when the Ubisoft servers were closed the (cracked) game was impossible to finish or something like that
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, That's extra scummy. Ubisoft nowadays ship out incomplete games like Skull and Bones which was being worked on for nearly a decade now.

I like that games can be fixed after the fact, hate that it's being abused via beta tests... And DLC... I was a 7800 owner back in the day and loved Impossible Mission, turns out I couldn't beat it because it was actually impossible lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I never knew about it at the time but a fixed version was available but you had to mail in your broken copy lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
So that version is semi rare

@Psionic Roshambo, I have a rom of the ds version of impossible mission
