Weird, I can't think of any other good DS shmups. Not even homebrew ones! There are quite a few experimental homebrew efforts but not really anything that's fun to play for a longer while. At the moment you should probably look into GBA games if you need more...

I hope they'll release a new part of "R-Type" for the DS. It would be rock

There is one coming called "Raid Over the River" that looks good. Do a search.

Yeah, by the guys that are making Sadness for Wii. I don't think RotR is out, yet, though.

Raid over the River doesn't look all that good to me. Plus the studio that's making it has never released a game before, and there's some doubt as to whether Sadness/RotR are merely hoaxes.

Nanostray is literally the only shoot em up on the system. GBA has a few, but they're mostly ports or average to poor original games.

It is pretty certain that they are not hoaxes. However, we do really have no indication of the quality...
I didn't like Nanostray but I'm waiting for Nanostray 2. The screenshots look very promising!
