A little update :

0.2 (Download in first post)

- Updated to latest ResidualVM GitHub
- New filesystem's code
- Compiled with another sdl-wii library (better sound, no more scratches in cutscenes)
- Added SDL_DOUBLEBUF flag
- Added a default residualvm.ini with the option engine_speed=100

The fps is a bit improved (still frame drops), the cutscenes run pretty good and in-game it's a little better.

After some testing:

Overall performance seems to have lower down a bit, framerate seems more unstable (not much, its totally playable) but videos have been fixed, audio is perfect.

But it keeps me crashing, like when you getting the eggs from the rooftop, it closes to the Residual main menu before the video shows up.

This is the error.

And an animation showing up this crash.

The performance should be better than the first version. But, yes, the framerate in game can be very low sometimes, especially in scenes with a lot of characters (the casino for example).

About the crashes and the error message, it's a memory issue. To be honest, at the moment, no idea what's the exact cause : Wii limitations, sound, video, read access, memory leaks, or anything I could have done wrong...
Apparently it happens randomly, and I don't have anything useful to debug if it's possible to fix it.

I just finished Year 1 and had 1 or 2 crashes (not where you had it though). So fortunately it's rather playable to enjoy this great game.
By the way, engine_speed=100 isn't really necessary, 62 is the default value but even 20 or 30 (max in-game fps anyway) should be enough.

I guess we will have to save often.

Here's a demo i have recorded until it crashed. In the middle of the first year i belive.

You're right, saving often is the only solution. It doesn't crash always at this point ?
Like I said, some crashes happened in my french version too, earlier in the game and later in the petrified forest. But I managed to complete year 1.
I can't assure that it's 100 % completable either even with some crashes here and there.
Anyway, any advices or help are welcome (still hoping it'll be ported "officially" and in a nicer way).:)

I'm trying real hard to get a Wii Channel set-up to point to ResidualVM on my Wii and I'm just not having any luck.

I started with the vWii forwarder here:
http://gbatemp.net/threads/forwarders-are-back.340226/page-19

In a perfect world I could turn on my Wii, hit the channel and play Grim all day. I was able to get the Atari 2600 WAD to work with no problems, but getting that Grim Fandango one to "not" work has taken me hourrrrrssssss.

This is an unofficial and partial port of ResidualVM. It only plays Grim Fandango.
Here is a screenshot :

HOW TO RUN THE GAME

ResidualVM is an interpreter just like ScummVM so you need the original game. You need to copy your CD data files to a folder first.

DATA FILES :

- GRIM.TAB
- GFUPD101.EXE (The official 1.01 Grim_Fandango_Patch)

Launch ResidualVM, add your folder and launch the game.

HOW TO PLAY

WIIMOTE/NUNCHUCK
. A : Left click (ResidualVM menu and Virtual keyboard)
. B : Pick up/Put away
. 1 : Use item/Talk/Comfirm
. 2 : Examine item
. - : Skip cutscene/Exit inventory
. + : Open inventory
. Home : Game menu
. Z : Run
. C : Virtual keyboard

CLASSIC CONTROLLER

NOTES

The port is far, far from perfect. First, it's incomplete, it doesn't run Escape from Monkey island and Myst 3.
It uses SDL as a backend and there's some hackish and lazy code. But well, it seems to work. At least we have this waiting for someone to make a better and proper port.
Never heard about this until today! Amazing port, even if stutters a lot, seeing Grim Fandango on the Wii is incredible.

I tried to recompile it to check for gamecube controller support, but i couldn't get too far. I find it unusual that the ResidualVM team never added this to their ports list!

hello I have ResidualVm and Grim Fandango showing right in my wiiflow, but when I try to lauch it, it enters residualvm and it gives an error about "path not found" something like this.. I don´t remember the exact error right now, I can check it later, but someone knows something about it, is there a way to fix it?

When I go to game menu and save or load a game progress, the wiimote/mouse cursor simply disappears from screen and it's impossible to keep playing. Any suggestions?
