Not possible, has already been brought up. We have no access to the real time clock.
What about if you had a text file that got updated with the date when certain homebrews are run (I assume it's impossible to have an NTR plugin run as soon as the console is started up to have it update every time you start up)? Then hourglass9 uses this date with the option for the user to change it (left and right can select the year/month/day and up and down can increase or decrease it, no need for keyboard). If the user chooses a later date, the one in the text file can be updated.

Does not sound very practical. And the idea of constantly writing a file to keep track of time can be pretty harsh to your SD card.

Maybe make use of HBKB lib and add a keyboard :)
This way we can enter a custom name for the backup file.
Or just have a date option as mentions using the arrow keys to edit. A watered down version of my text file idea is just to record the date chosen for the last backup, and the user can increase the date from there.

Can't you brick if you turn off your 3DS/battery dies while restoring the Sysnand?
No. Don't try it, but you can still fix it via Hourglass and a9lh. I'd only view it as an actual brick if I got no software possibility of fixing it.

It is not practical, and forcing this in does not make much sense. Dates inside NAND backup names will be a thing once we get access to the RTC, but not anytime earlier.

Has been asked a few times already. A virtual keyboard, apart from being a major pain to do in ARM9. just doesn't fit well inside the current code structure.

The SDK app Config can set the default RTC date after battery is removed. Furthermore, battery date is retained if you have a charger in.

(edit) Nvm, useless info. Didn't read the whole thread.

You might be afraid of what Decrypt9 can do and be overwhelmed by its ~120 menu entries. As you know, there are tons of safety clamps in D9, but as my experience showed me, there is also always that guy who manages to brick (or: forget something, do something he should not have done, etc ...) regardless. With this, you can't brick. Your biggest fear with this should be losing your backups. You can also install this on a kids console without fear of the little one messing his console up completely.

Take a good look at that icon, then think about what's the most controversial 3DS topic right now. You'll come up with it :). Other than this, yup, this allows you to revert in time. So to say.
like me cause i clone 2.1 emunand in sysnand and had to hardmod xD

And if the concern is that "well we can't trust the government to intervene for this because the government can't do anything right and wastes tons of money" then holy shit push for a better government. I'm certainly trying to. Don't throw your hands up and go "we've tried nothing and we're all out of ideas"

@K3Nv2 that's crazily expensive. how long will that take to pay off?

Although diet is largely education, people don't need to go to university to learn what's healthy and what's not,
it's the whole country, big corporations and advertising that is to blame for leading most of the population to believe that poptarts and froot loops are healthy to feed a child
  • mthrnite @ mthrnite:
i would think the population knows better but with food deserts and abject poverty, sometimes a poptart gonna have to do.

As someone who went through the grade school system in the US some time within the past 30 or so years, not nearly enough is done to promote and educate on how to eat healthy in a way that is feasible to do on a regular basis and also affordable. Eating healthy is, comparatively, fucking expensive. So is eating unhealthy, but in many cases eating unhealthy is more affordable than eating healthy

@Sicklyboy I agree, but also it's about self control and realistic thinking. We wouldn't feed a dog soda, so why feed it to ourselves? Eating unhealthy food because it's cheap is one thing, but I'm sure you know people who drink soda routinely when they should be drinking water which is free.
I get it can feel mean to say "no treat sweet beverage for you anymore" but for many people it's just in their way of life.
