Was this intended to be a malicious release? Or was this just something that the OP didn't know caused bricks through lack of testing or something?

I think your sd card data would be destroyed before you even made the nand backup for the other console. There are probably other console specific parts in the nand backup that would prevent flashing it properly.

then the only thing this is good for is to move the files between different 3DS one time only.

this sounds stupid to me, atleast if you already have a ton of CIA's you'd have to re-install them after doing this.
smarter would be putting your own movable-sed from system A to system B. -.-

eitherway it sounds dirty and messy, and noobs that will find it handy will probably mess shit up and brick lol

This won't break eShop, this will just change the encryption key of your SD card to 0. That way, if you 3DS bricks, you can still recover your SD savedata easily (if you didn't back up your original movable.sed). If you installed tickets from that ticket site on all 3DS, you can transfer titles from one SD to another and it works on all 3DS with 0-key movable.sed.

Of course, you should back up your NAND and Savedata in case something goes wrong.

So how are CIAs no longer needed ? The OP is confusing me
In theory, someone could upload their Nintendo 3DS directory, and you could place it on your SD and have it just work.

There've been some reports of problems, so don't try it yet. If it works this could be revolutionary in the 3DS scene for new installs, but could be something easily fixable in a system update, making CFW still essential.

That would require one to download a huge RAR and if that's the case you might as well download the games individually.

ok this seems cool and useful maybe - but, what about the tickets?
you need the ticket installed to make the content work... just because you have the game on the sd card doesn't mean it will work.
so, we still have to install something.
this is where CIAngel's ticket install would be useful :D

yeah we can do this with pc games too but it's still nice/cleaner to share the installer and install it yourself

Doesn't have to be any bigger than 1 cia file. Just download, extract, and insert SD.

It could also make things like save and ROM editing much easier if this catches on, but based on reports earlier in this thread, it might not.

PC games generally install things all over the place (program files, registry, app data, etc) while the 3DS installs in the Nintendo 3DS folder (well, and the ticket).

But yeah, CIAs are more portable.

Manually moving movable.sed to another NAND may cause a specific error (I forgot the error number) which gives the same description as 002-0102 when visiting e-shop.
(Both the movable.sed's source machine and the target machine don't have NNID so it is definitely not an NNID error)
This can't be resolved by formatting NAND.
I finally restored an early emuNAND backup to fix it.

So, if you're running A9LH SysNAND without any early backup, don't change movable.sed otherwise your network connection will be possibly messed-up like the case above!

I suggest people don't use eShop. I mean, if you are using this release, you probably aren't going to go legit anyway.
I have 1TB of no-intro 0001-1411 games. When 1TB microSDs are on sale, I want to be able to copy games fast using UHS-2 (or even faster).
I also want to share games with people who have the release installed, so I give them the 1TB microSD with tickets and 0-key Nintendo\ 3DS folder.

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

  • Jayro @ Jayro:
The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.
